I really enjoyed this series! The makers did a great job bringing the earlier seasons of AT feel to this. I don't like the newer episodes and was about to give up on it but this brought a breath of fresh air to the Season! Good job AT team :)

I've watched tons of great cartoons in my 30-odd years, and Adventure Time easily takes my number 1 slot. The disarming (and charming) silliness it wears on its sleeve gives ample room for lots of interesting gags, but as all fans of the show know, belies a deep sensitivity to issues ontological and emotional. It is also the most insanely creative show on TV; one ten-minute episode routinely exhibits more invention than an entire season of any other program. This excellent Marceline-centric miniseries, I am happy to say, continues the trend of great characterization combined with fantasy world-building that would do a novelist proud. Seriously, when is this show going to go stale? At 200+ episodes, it should have jumped the shark a long time ago!

But Stakes should have been included in my purchase of Season 9! Curse you Cartoon Network, for extorting yet more dosh from this starry-eyed manchild!

Great product: Terrible business decision.

The actual miniseries is the best that Adventure Time has been in years. We get to see a new more vulnurable and mature side of Marceline's character and a darker more dramatic take on The Land of Ooo than normal. There are elements that don't make sense: Such as why Princess Bubblegum didn't usurp the King of Ooo and why the Candy people put up with him for as long as they did. However, none of those elements really detract from the main plot so they are all forgivable. Nevertheless, there is no reason for Stakes to be sold separately from the rest of Season 9 on Amazon Instant Video. All it does is make it harder to deduce the chronological order of the episodes.

Discovering this series has made this Adventure Time fan incredibly happy! It really opened my eyes to the deep relationship between Marceline and Princess Bubblegum and their characters struggle at young adulthood. This is Marceline's existential crisis and makes the viewer consider what they thought they knew about these characters from watching them grow up over the years. This series is a must see for Adventure Time fans!
