November 2015: Mafia III

Five years after the release of Mafia II, 2K Games finally took the veil off the ambitious next entry in the series at Gamescom 2015. With a new studio at the helm, Hangar 13, the Mafia franchise is expanding its boundaries beyond those of the Italian mob with a new protagonist, new setting, and new historical era. October 2015: Dark Souls III

The Dark Souls series has had a fascinating rise in popularity over the years, spurred on from the success of Demon’s Souls and other dark fantasy From Software titles that came before it. Players hungry for a challenge, elaborate environments, and some of the most interesting characters and enemies in all of gaming have everything to be excited about as director Hidetaka Miyazaki returns to the Dark Souls series for this upcoming third installment.

September 2015: Destiny: The Taken King

Few games in recent years have generated the same degree of debate as Bungie’s Destiny. Whether it’s fervent enthusiasm or harsh criticism depends on your perspective. Some of the harshest critics work at Bungie, striving with each passing update and expansion to hone the existing content while adding meaningful new adventures into the mix. Upon visiting Bungie, we expected to find a game that continued the process in incremental steps. Instead, we found a robust reimagining of everything that has come before, along with the largest influx of new missions, maps, strikes, gear, and storytelling yet seen. We spent two days playing The Taken King and speaking with its creators, and this month’s cover story has the scoop.
