SESSIONAL DRAWING TUTOR(S)

We are seeking experienced Drawing tutors to run a series of sessions for Fine Art BA, MA and Foundation students in the Autumn Term.

Closing date: September 15th 2015

Sessional Drawing Tutor(s)

The City & Guilds of London Art School is seeking applications for sessional tutors for its highly successful Drawing Studio to encourage and enable students to engage with observational drawing through a diversity of explorative approaches, including responses to the figure. Drawing tutors are required to provide an overall structure and focus for each drawing class, whilst responding diagnostically and flexibly to help each student to further develop their individual practice and research. The sessions available are optional for students studying on the Fine Art BA, Fine Art MA and Foundation courses at the Art School.

Drawing classes where tutors are required include:
• 9 evening sessions from 5 to 8pm on Tuesdays from October 13th 2015.
• 2 days per week over 5 weeks from 9.30 to 4.30 from 9th November to 8th December on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The City & Guilds of London Art School is a ‘not for profit’ charitable institution, providing a valuable alternative to other models of Art education in the UK at Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Foundation levels. The Art School has a mission to foster excellence in contemporary Fine Art, Historic Carving and Conservation of cultural objects. It does this in part by providing students with a very high level of contact time with artist tutors and experts. It also has many partnerships and links with London’s major museums and galleries and is supported by a number of benefactors and philanthropic organisations, providing bursaries and funding that help to support our students and enhance our facilities.

The Art School has a particular focus on skills-based teaching and a commitment to cultivate knowledge and curiosity in both the historical and contemporary contexts of our subjects. The relationships between tradition and innovation provide a rich area of discussion and debate and we are seeking Drawing tutors who can actively and positively engage in the Art School’s community of artists, conservators and craft makers.

The successful applicant(s) will be an artist with an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification in Fine Art, and experience of teaching in Higher Education institutions at Foundation, UG and/or PG level. You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to developing and challenging your own practice with drawing as a central focus. The Drawing Studio is available to students from across the Art School’s courses and is managed by artist Diane Magee with input from a range of tutors.
