TAICHI YAGAMI: He's very much like the Taichi of the anime in terms of personality: head-strong, courageous to a fault, and knows how to have a good time. However, this manga-version of Taichi seems to be a bit more intelligent, at least in terms of monster fighting, strategy, and anything to do with digimon. He trusts Zero's capabilities and seems to know more about limits than the anime-version. And although he can be stubborn and one-minded, he never seems to be conceited. He knows that Zero and he will win not because they are that much better than their opponents, but rather because they will together find a way to win. He fully believes that their ability to perservere is due to their combination as tamer and digimon. |

ZEROMARU: Zeromaru (Zero for short) is a V-dramon whose Tamer is Taichi. Like most Digimon who have a human "owner," Zero shares many of Taichi's personalities. He's strong-willed but somewhat fool-hardy. Zero, however, hates to be underestimated. He acknowledges that he cannot do everything (certainly not without Taichi's help), but he knows he is more than just the "puppy dragon" that everyone thinks he is. At this point in the story, Zero is an Adult level digimon (that translates to Champion in terms of American levels). Working together with Taichi, Zero notes that they make up 100% (the "ichi" in Taichi which means "1" and the "zero" and "maru" - which means round - make 1 0 0). |

GABO: Gabo is a Gabumon who seems to be a servant of Holy Angel Castle. He acts as a guide through the Digimon World for Taichi and Zero (why Zero doesn't know his way around is anyone's guess). Gabo is a very conservative bloke. Perhaps, it is because he is only a Child level digimon (Rookie level) that he seems to worry about his and the others' well-beings. However, this sort of thinking leads him to heavily doubt the abilities of Taichi and Zero. He also hates how Taichi and Zero don't seem to take anything seriously. In Gabo's eyes, the two of them see everything as a game. Still, as time passes and they prove their worth, Gabo seems to have more confidence in them and to care for them. |

LEO: Leo is a Leomon who is the commanding combat officer of the army at Holy Angel Castle. Being in charge of security for such an important place makes Leo very militarisitc. He believes in the idea, "No Pain, no gain." Thus, for those who have yet to earn his respect, Leo can come across as a very mean person. He has no time or patience for those whom he believe are weak, and yet, he makes it his mission to protect the weak at any cost. Self-righteous and slightly arrogant, he at first comes at odds with Taichi and Zero. However, over time, he learns to respect them and fight along their sides against the greater evil. |

LORD HOLY ANGEMON: Lord Holy Angemon is a Holy Angemon (Magna Angemon, for Americans) who guards over the Digimon World from Holy Angel Castle. A Perfect Digimon (Ultimate level), his power does not seem to be contested by any of the good guys. He is a benevolent ruler who is very capable of maintaining the peace of the Digimon World. However, his manner is tempered with patience and wisdom, and he knows when they need help. That is the reason why he summoned Taichi to fight with Zero in the Digimon World. Although he stated he was taking a chance, it seems that he also believes in their abilities to win. Thus, it is not surprising that he is also a support program for their cause. |

GEKOVITCH: Gekovitch is a Tonosama Gekomon (Shogun Gekomon) who seems to be one of Lord Holy Angemon's right-hand digimon. Gekovitch does not have a bad heart, per se, but like Leo, he does not believe that Taichi and Zero have what it takes to defeat Demon. After all, Zero is only an Adult Digimon, not a Perfect, and Taichi is...well...human. Only after a battle with the combination tamer-and-digimon does Gekovitch realize that they are a force to be reckoned with. His duties beyond this are unknown in Holy Angel Castle, but he certainly seems to have a lesser sense of honor than Leo. However, for now, it seems that his loyalties are to Lord Holy Angemon. His attack is Samurai Tone. |

LORD DEMON: Lord Demon is the big bad guy of the comic...for now. Not much is known about him, except for the fact that he is raising an army of evil digimon to take over the Digimon World. His power is great enough to convert Data-type digimon into evil digimon. Furthermore, he is raising a super-ultimate (super-mega) egg in his castle in the center of the continent of Folder. He's just your stereotypically power-hungry and ruthless villain. So far as can be told, he doesn't seem to have any weaknesses. Any direct interaction with our heroes has yet to be seen. After seeing how well Taichi does with Zero, Demon realizes that a tamer is needed to bring out the full potential of his super-ultimate digimon. He also might have plans to invade the human world after taking over the digimon one... |

ETEMONKEY: Etemonkey is an Etemon and the first Perfect our heroes face. 2nd-in-command in Demon's army, Etemonkey has placed five Perfects to guard the five V-Tamer tags, in order to prevent our heroes from entering Demon's castle. Living up to his appearance, Etemonkey tries to act cool and very Elvis-like. He loves show-casing his powers and relishes in playing deadly games with our heroes. It's hard to tell whether he's dissapointed or happy that Taichi and Zero get stronger and get more tags. Later, we discover that the only reason he joined Demon's army was to get into the human world and to play with human children. |

TRICERAMON: One of very few digimon in this comic who don't have a personalized named that is some sort of alteration of their name as a digimon, Triceramon was the Perfect who was guarding the Tag of Earth. In a valley full of rocks and a river, Triceramon confronted our heroes in their first real fight against a Perfect. While both he and Zero shared a lot of injuries in their fight, Triceramon was faithful in his belief that a Perfect, by definition, can always out-power an Adult digimon. Nevertheless, he failed to realize the power a Tamer-Digimon combo has. Despite being a Data monster, he was fighting for Demon for some unknown reason. He had two underlings: DarkTyranomon and Deltamon. |

GON: Gon is a Gomamon who lives in the Net Ocean. He often swims in the ocean, despite the fact that a Perfect has shown up to guard the second tag recently and attacks anyone who attempts to swim. He does this to keep in contact with Whamon, the Net Ocean Protector, and keep him up to date on activites. At first, he thinks Taichi is ridiculous for trying to train Zero, who has no idea how to swim, with swimming lessons just to get the tag. However, the human-digimon combo prove to Gon that digimon have limitless possibilities. Thus, he resolves to fight with them, and he becomes braver, too. Eventually, he inherits the position of Net Ocean Protector from Whamon. |

LORD WHAMON: Lord Whamon (a Whamon) is the aging Net Ocean Protector who, if he was younger, could easily dispatch of the Perfect that has invaded the Net Ocean. He's thankful that Gon reports to him but thinks it's too dangerous, until Gon tells him that Taichi and Zero have arrived. Upon hearing that a tamer-digimon team has come, he rustles out from the bottom of the ocean to meet the heroes. He reveals that everything in the Digimon World, including digimon, is just data. He also elaborates that he and Lord Holy Angemon are support programs to help Taichi defeat the virus which threatens the data: Demon. So, giving him the Digivice 01, Lord Whamon appoints Gon as the next Net Ocean Protector and ends his own program. |

LORD MARINE: Lord Marine (a Marine Devimon) is the second Perfect Taichi and Zero face in an underwater battle in order to get the Tag of Sea. Lord Marine is definitively more evil than Triceramon was, relishing in his ability to be able to cause Zero to suffer. Although his greatest strength is speed, he has hardly any defense, such that a few minor hits can wound him greatly. All in all, he's just your stereotypical really evil mini-boss kinda guy. He doesn't have much personality, but since he is a Pefect guarding a tag, he's included here. He had two underlings: Octomon and Gesomon. |

(LORD) VAMDEMON: Lord Vamdemon, although Etemonkey only calls him Vamdemon (known as Myotismon in America), is a cunning, ruthless, psychotic socio-path who guarded the third Tag of Illusions. He loves seeing people suffer and feel despair just before they are about to die. So, instead of killing our heroes outright, he concots an elaborate plan to bring them misery and pain. Using his Nightmare Wave, which he can transmit through his minions, he causes Zero to think Taichi might betray him. Yet, despite this, Taichi never gives in and only shows Vamdemon defiance. This greatly angers his, which eventually leads to his downfall. He had one underling, a Bakemon, but used his Nightmare Wave to possess the digimon of a local village to fight for him. |

STARMON: So far as I know, this guy shows up in only one chapter, and really, he's a minor character. But the chapter he's in is so funny, and there is a possibility he comes back later, I have to include him. Starmon is the mayor of Star City: "where stars live." He is the self-proclaimed star of Star City, and when Taichi and Zero arrive, taking away some of his fame, he challenges them to a fight for the title. As you might have already deduced, he's very conceited, cares only about popularity, and isn't the brightest of fellows out there. Thus, it's not surprising that he lose. Yet, despite this, he invites our heroes to come back often as they want, as he changes the city's motto to: "stars come here often." |

NEO SAIBA: Neo was summoned by Demon to the Digimon World for the purpose of raising the super ultimate egg. However, Neo also came to beat Taichi and kill Zero after having the humiliation of tieing with Taichi back the human world. As scary as it might sound, Neo is perhaps the most ruthless, cunning, and vile villain we have met yet. Etemonkey made a good observation by questioning if Neo was really human (as in having human feelings). Neo believes that helping Demon will weed out the weak of the Digimon World. He wants to create a new world order of only the strongest. Thus, it's not surprising that he only cares about and uses digimon for fighting and gets rid of the weak ones. Apparently without compassion, Neo is the biggest threat and hindrance our heroes have for saving the Digimon World. |

METAL GREYMON: Metal Greymon is the fourth Perfect guarding the Metal Empire tag. He used to be a Greymon whose tamer was Neo, but Neo threw him away because his win-loss ratio wasn't any good. Roaming the Digimon World, he reconstructed himself as Metal Greymon in order to prove to Neo that he would be useful. Thus, when Neo came to the Digimon World, he did not hesitate to fight for Neo and stop Zero from getting the tag. Little did he know that this was another plan by Neo to simply use Metal Greymon and throw him away, yet again. Metal Greymon shows how one can fight for the wrong side for the right reasons, and how some bad guys aren't really bad at all... |

MR. HIROSHI IZAWA: This is the author of the V-Tamer storyline, or rather, this is the picture used to depict him (yes, he's supposed to look like Taichi). Often, he (along with the artist) will pop up at the beginning and/or the end of the volume to talk about various things. Such a practice is not uncommon in mangas, and it really gives the reader a sense of who exactly are the creative minds behind the work (at least it does for me). So, I'm just giving you an idea of what kind of a person the author is. This will be especially useful if Megchan decides to translate various omakes (extras) at the ends of certain volumes, where the author AND artist make appearances... |

MR. TENYA YABUNO: This is the artist of the V-Tamer manga (yes, he's supposed to look like Zero). Like most comics, it's really the artist that gives a sense of style and atmosphere to the work. One could argue that because Mr. Izawa did not have the skills to draw the pictures, Mr. Yabuno was called to be the artist. However, I personally feel that a lot of the jokes (especially the visual gags) are a result of Mr. Yabuno. Furthermore, Mr. Yabuno has drawn a digimon manga before the anime came out, so he might actually have more creative input on this series than Mr. Izawa. In any event, I, personally, think his chubby monster style is really cute... |
