We own and manage 427 allotments at five sites in Scunthorpe:

- Bottesford Lane (Wheatfields)
What size are the allotments?
An average allotment consists of a plot of land comprising of 300 square yards (or 253 square metres).
What are people allowed to grow?
You can grow fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers.
How much does an allotment cost?

Rental cost for a plot is £24 per year, or a half plot costs £12 per year
Rental cost for a cubicle (small lock up for tools etc) costs £7 per year

Rent is payable when invoiced at the beginning of each financial year, usually mid April

A refundable deposit of £5 is also required for a key
Is there a waiting list for allotments?
Please bear in mind that due to popular demand, some sites have no allotments available. If this is the case you can ask to be added to the waiting list and we will contact you when a plot becomes available.
Currently there are vacant plots at our Westcliff site on Bodmin Road where there is no waiting list. Therefore it is possible you could rent a plot straight away after making your application.

What happens if I am accepted?

Once you have been allocated a plot you will need to sign a tenancy agreement before you will be given possession of the plot

If you want to add a shed or glasshouse you must ask permission in writing; either by email or post. Design sheets are available for this purpose, which are enclosed with the tenancy agreement
I live outside Scunthorpe, how can I apply for an allotment?
Sites outside Scunthorpe are usually managed by local town or parish councils. Please contact them directly for availability of allotments in your area.
