14.9.2009 - 06:45 - Report on Sailing News...
Sailing News.

16.9.2009 - 19:23 - This is the final 18HT Euro 2009 post. We think that we had, despite the fact, that the wind conditions were a little bit special for our lake, a nice regatta week with lots of impressions and emotions to take with us in our memories. Andi and Micca were really unbeatable but there seems to be a little hope because of rumours going on, that Micca is planning to go back on the helmsman position next year on his own boat. One more boat, which is good for the starting lines but nevertheless a good and really fair playing team will probably seperate... We will keep you up to date with insights in relation to this.

Besides internal gossip, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to this event. Our warm and very special thanks go to the 'chief of staff' Heinz Gasser and his wife Erika who managed the shore and off-shore crew as usual with big experience and a lot of humour. It was and is really good to have you on board. Furthermore we would like to thank the two muscle men on the 'Bojenleger', Pesche and Fränzu, assisted by our trainee Evelyn. It is not common known that the lake is very deep and every change of the race position meant to wind up 160 meters of rope per buoy. Really a very good job of the three on the boat! Additionally there where around seven more volunteers who helped us during their vacations. This is not really self speaking and we truly hope to have the possibility once in the future to turn the tables on and to assist them. Thanks to SCWe! In the background we had the helmsmen of SUI99, a truly local, who helps and assists us every single time with his work and relations. Thanks to Chrigu, the real and only one 'Gafner Einheit'!

We had and will have some press coverage and of course we will inform you here and on the Swiss site about every article. Normally it is planned to have a longer article in the Swiss nautic magazine 'skippers' in their next edition and several online services will follow. The same for the pictures. As we all have a second life related to work in order to gain the money for new sails, we ask for a little patience but the work will be done for sure.

So what about next year? Besides the races we had discussed with our Italian friends. Actually the main discussion and provisionary agreements were hold on the water between two races. We think that, because of the participation, it is normal, that next edition will be organized again by our Italian colleagues. No French, and no German participant showed up and we think that everybody likes the Italian way of life and sometimes salty waters are good for our boats... Actually the project discussed tries to combine the Italian championships and the 18HT Euro in one single week on two spots. A sweety and a salty one. Lago di Como and a spot in Italy are in discussion, we will try to fix the locations and the dates as soon as possible for your agendas. Besides that we plan of course a Swiss 18HT regatta calendar for 2010. Keep you up to date also related to that in order that everybody is able to reserve the relevant weekends.

Last but not least we would like to mention that we were really happy that we could welcome four women among the participants. One female crew on SUI97 and two females sailing with their relatives. Congratulations from our side and keep on to participate in the future!

See you all next year and thanks again!

10.9.2009 - 9:37 - After a heavy day of prepration and coordination we hold the skippers meeting yesterday evening at 7 pm. With three no shows due to different reasons we now have 18 boats registered and the race committee is on track with preperations for the first races today. Wind situation on the lake apparently normalized and turned back to the usual situation we are used to know on the lake. This allowed first training sessions yesterday Wednesday with 10 to 16 knots coming from west. Todays wind forecast seems to be almost the same, announcing force 2 to 3 from west in the early afternoon which gives us the time to enjoy one more coffee and to socialize with our colleagues from Italy. Keep you posted.

9.9.2009 - 0:00 - Preperations are actually going in the final phasis. Dinner for Thursday is prepared as far as it was possible to do so and the first Italian teams have arrived as well as our primary sponsor. Today is our welcome day, some measurement has to be done, get together with old and new friends and of course the first skippers meeting will be held tonight at 7 pm. Weather forecast is still ok, the wind looks promising as well - we think that we will have a great sailing event the days coming. Keep you updated as regularly as possible.
