Free Tutorial Crochet With Beads

Free Tutorial Crochet With Beads! This free tutorial is how to add beads to my free barefoot sandal crochet pattern – the pattern can be found here. The step-by-step guide can be used for any crochet project you would like to add beads to.

Add a Bead Tutorial - The Hooked Haberdasher
STEP 1: First you’ll want to string all of your beads onto your yarn prior to beginning your project. If your bead hole is large enough, you can simply use your tapestry needle attached to your yarn to string your beads. However, in most cases decorative beads usually have a smaller hole. Use a sewing needle (one that DOES fit through your bead hole) and add a length of sewing thread, knotted to form a loop. Place your yarn through the loop with an approximate 2-3 inch tail.

STEP 3: With the yarn placed through the thread loop, fold your yarn over the thread loop with the 2-3 inch tail and slide your beads onto your yarn.

STEP 4: String as many beads as needed, plus a few extra for good measure as you never know when one might break.

STEP 5: To crochet your bead into your project, move one bead tight against the head of your hook and work a stitch to secure (I used a chain stitch/slip stitch) the bead to your project. Continually move the beads up your working yarn to keep them out of your way until you need your next bead.
