Harry Styles born in Redditch - confirmed

REDDITCH has been revealed as the birthplace of one of the world's biggest boy band members.

One Direction's Harry Styles was born in the town in 1994 despite recent speculation online and in a rival newspaper the 19-year-old was from Bromsgrove.

But after a recent tweet by his father Des, it was revealed the borough actually first welcomed the star into the world.

"Funny stuff.. Bromsgrove Advertiser says H might be born there? He was born in Redditch, we were there just in time! We lived in Evesham. X"

He later tweeted: "I also got nicked for speeding the next morning on way back to see H and Anne. Copper wasn't buying the story. Booked me anyway. Swine! X"

Harry joins other famous Redditch born celebrities including Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, paralympian Claire Cashmore, 1930s and 40s singing star Millicent Phillips, Lostprophets drummer Luke Johnson and English actor, screenwriter and film director Charles Dance OBE.

Zoe Lister from Hollyoaks, as well as Neighbours star Nicola Charles - who played Sarah Beaumont in the Australian soap in the mid-1990s - are among many who grew up in the town.

Harry, who lived in Evesham before moving to Cheshire, shot to fame in 2010 when he auditioned as a solo singer on The X Factor.

Although he failed to make the cut in the boys' category at judges' houses, he was asked if he would join four others to create the boy band One Direction.

The group finished in third place and have since gone on to release three albums, all of which were number one in the Billboard music charts in the US.
