Brighter yellow submarginal band than usual.Comment from Richard Willan on photo #8916
This individual seems to be missing almost all of it mantle brim as the result of a genetic phenomenon or nipping off by a predator. It is only present around the head end and is unusually pale in colour.Comment from Nathalie Yonow on photo #2105
I have seen this a number of times from the Red Sea, and think it is one of the several colour forms of Glossodoris cincta. We get two colour forms in the Red Sea, and Nudi Pixel has photos of both. Thanks to Gary McDonald for suggesting identification for this species
Previously identified by Dr. Richard Willan as Glossodoris sp. His comment: Probably an undescribed species.
Comment from Richard Willan on photo #1825
This species varies geographically. Individuals from East Africa and the Red Sea lack a distinct turquoise blue band at the mantle edge but it is present inside the black band. It’s as though they had reversed the blue and black bands compared to individuals from the western Pacific. And the golden band inside the black band is only faint.Locality:

These three species can be distinguished by visually observing the mantle margin.
In Glossodoris cincta, the mantle margin bordered by well-defined turquoise blue, black and gold concentric bands.
While in Glossodoris hikuerensis, they are bordered by concentric bands of brown, brownish white, dark greyish black and then brownish white.
In Glossodoris pullata, it is simply bordered by dark blue mantle margin.
