Lennie Bluett is a pianist, singer, actor and dancer with a resume that rivals most Hollywood actors, but chances are, you've never seen him before.
That's because this 83-year-old entertainer was only allowed to play small parts next to big stars like Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne and Grace Kelly.
Bluett has always been a bit player, not because he wasn't talented, but because he was black.
When Halle Berry, Denzel Washington and Sidney Poitier stood proudly in front of millions to accept their Oscars, Bluett screamed out loud with joy because finally, the work of his people was recognized as great.
"If I hadn't owned my condo they (management) would have kicked me out," said Bluett about the Oscar party he hosted at his Los Feliz condo, where friends shouted in excitement after Berry won Best Actress honors. …
