STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS OFFICER 

WORCESTER 

£24,845 TO £26,922 PER ANNUM 

35 HOURS PER WEEK 

We are looking for a highly experienced writer who is capable of producing a wide range of materials, such as newsletters, feature articles, blogs and press releases, aimed at our diverse stakeholders. 

As Stakeholder Relations Officer, you will also play a vital role in researching key issues and providing practical support to the Group Stakeholder Relations Manager. 

You need to be able to write for a business audience, be experienced in managing and delivering multiple projects to tight deadlines and not be afraid of meeting challenging targets. 

The role would suit an experienced journalist with good organisational skills and an interest in current affairs. 

Your main duties will centre on producing high quality newsletters and other stakeholder material. You will also be required to provide briefings for our operational teams, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records to make sure we are keeping in touch with those who have an interest in our activities. Ideally, you will have gained experience in a journalist environment.

CONTEXT 

This job sits within the Public Relations and Communications department for the Group based in Worcester. 

The PR and Communications department provides an effective internal and external communications service to the whole Group and comprises four teams – Stakeholder Relations, Corporate Communications, PR, Social Media and Internal Communications. 

The job holder supports the Group Stakeholder Relations Manager in promoting and protecting Sanctuary’s reputation and position as one of the UK’s leading housing and care providers. The job holder is responsible for supporting the Stakeholder Relations function in building relationships with our network of relevant UK stakeholders and delivery of our Group Business Plan. This includes communicating through online and offline channels with MPs, regulators, councillors, local authority officers, NHS Trusts and commissioning bodies. 

The job holder will be required to research and write a wide range of communications materials such as newsletters, blogs and emails, draft and produce briefing notes for specific events such as MP visits and stakeholder events, undertake thorough research to provide reliable up to the minute information, maintain up-to-date stakeholder databases and the stakeholder visits log, review and enhance the content of award submissions to improve our chances of success, and provide occasional practical support at stakeholder events. Adhering to tight deadlines on a regular basis and responding to ad hoc enquiries will be an important part of this job. This is not an exhaustive list and other duties requiring similar skill levels may be required.

The job holder will support the delivery of the Group’s key business objectives through the delivery of their key accountabilities as follows: 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

1. Assist in the delivery of the Stakeholder Relations Strategy and Action Plan to ensure the Group’s business objectives are met. 

Measure: Quality of deliverables, achievement of deadlines, feedback 

2. Create, edit and produce e-newsletters, e-bulletins, press releases, editorial features and literature to agreed timetable, ensuring the Group’s key messages are incorporated and communicated to our stakeholders. 

Measure: Quality of materials, deadlines adhered to. 

3. Conduct thorough research to gather relevant and up-to-date content or background information for briefing notes as required, including in advance of senior managers’ meetings or events involving key stakeholders. 

Measure: Quality of research and briefing notes internal customer feedback, 

4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases, such as the stakeholder database, stakeholder visits log and awards database to ensure we reach our audiences quickly and effectively. 

Measure: Accuracy of database, reliability of information. 

5. Support with reviewing and enhancing awards submissions to deadline to ensure they meet relevant criteria and are likely to achieve our target to win or be shortlisted for 50% of those awards we enter. 

Measure: Quality of entry, success in being shortlisted or winning 

6. Support and assist in planning of stakeholders events as required, including issuing pre-event photo calls, managing photo opportunities and liaising with the media on the day. 

Measure: Turnout, media coverage and customer feedback 

7. Support and advise staff on the most effective tools to communicate to their stakeholder audience, recommending practical and cost-effective solutions to achieve an effective service. 

Measure: Assess quality of deliverables, press coverage and internal/external customer feedback
