Or try a vintage bottle to add some character! Why spend money on some as seen on TV self watering plant globes? Recycling is free. Fill an empty wine bottle with water and stick it into a potted plant to water it while you are away or just because you are too busy to water. Wine bottles are best because of the long thin neck and the glass is heavy enough to stand up to light winds and not come out.

Use a strong glue to attach your surplus pennies to a thrift store bowling ball. It would be a great project to do with your kids on a rainy day. REALLY COOL IDEA!!!! who knew: pennies in the garden repel slugs and make hydrangeas blue. Really?? Will have to try this! glue 1-2 layers of pennies on an old bowling ball with E-6000 craft glue. They tend to slide around a bit till the glue firms up, so work in small areas at a time, keeping the freshly glued area at the top to minimize sliding. Once you have an area securely glued, it will keep the newly glued areas from sliding.
