Veteran U.S. Airman to be honored with memorial spaceflight: International "Scattering CJ" memorial continues with out of this world tribute
September 22, 2014 - Celestis, Inc., the pioneer and global leader in Memorial Spaceflight Services, today announced the Conestoga Flight, scheduled for launch October 20, 2014, from New Mexico's Spaceport America. Among those honored on board will be CJ Twomey, the former US Airman whose sudden and unexpected passing in 2010 inspired an international effort to send him places he was unable to visit in life.
Since the "Scattering CJ" effort began, people from around the world have spread his ashes in over 400 locations ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. CJ and others on board the October flight, Celestis' thirteenth memorial launch, will briefly experience the weightlessness of space before returning safely to Earth. Each flown capsule, with the cremated remains still sealed inside, will be presented to family and other loved ones as a permanent keepsake.

CJ Twomey's Biography |
For renowned sculptor Luise Kaish, deep space burial on Celestis Voyager flight is ultimate creative act
May 14, 2014 – During her lifetime, Luise Kaish developed a global reputation as a uniquely gifted artist. Her works are a textbook in American expressionist sculpture, from emotive human forms like Syracuse University’s The Saltine Warrior to metallic abstractions as geometric as they are protean. Her explorations of the human figure in Frederick the Great on tolerance and Christ in Glory are characteristic of a life’s work that seamlessly integrated assertive humanism with the idealized sublime.
For Kaish, who passed away in early 2013 after a battle with cancer, a burial in deep space on board a Celestis Voyager flight represents one final act of communication between Earth and the universe, the corporeal and the divine. Celestis, the Houston-based space pioneer and global leader in memorial spaceflights, will fly Kaish on board its deep space Voyager service, currently scheduled for early 2016.
