Torture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
CagePrisoners has released the statements of five recently released detainees from a national security detention facility in the city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The men have all testified to the systematic use of torture and ill-treatment with the goal to extract false confessions. That same coerced material was then subsequently used to convict the men.
“What you trying to say to me, what’s happened? I’m thinking like he’s going to arrest me in Djibouti, and torture me, might wanna take me to Morocco like Binyam Mohamed, that story.”
Shaker Aamer is a long-term British resident, originally from Saudi Arabia, who has spent close to ten years in Guantánamo – without charge or trial.
