eShop games of the week: MASSIVE UBISOFT SALE

More Mega Man, Assassin's Creed for cheaps, NES Remix deal continues

The game well has dried up a bit in the post-E3 summer games drought, but the lovely folks at Ubisoft have given us lots of delicious, thirst-quenching sales to keep us going until Christmas. In the NES Remix offers, there are some incredible deals - Metroid for under £2! Super Mario Bros. 3 for under £3! WHAT.

Cast your greedy eyes over this lot:

Assassin's Creed III (Wii U: Ubisoft, £7.99) and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Wii U: Ubisoft, £9.99) have got everything you need, if what you need is covert neck stabbings and jaunty pirate shanties.

Rayman Legends (Wii U: Ubisoft, £11.99) is just the best and you should buy it. You should buy it now. It's £11.99! That's a bargain! Think of all that lovely Rayman goodness you're getting for the price of, like, lots of bread or something. We're not good at this.

Get some stealth in ya with Splinter Cell Blacklist (Wii U: Ubisoft, £9.99), or just go in all shooty-like and kill all them guards. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's so worth it for £10, especially if you have a go at the online co-op.

ZombiU (Wii U: Ubisoft, £7.99) was a brilliant, underrated launch game for the Wii U. We gave it 92%. Isn't that enough? Go buy it and experience the fun of discounted pant-wetting scares for yourself.

Magical, mystical platforming RPG Child of Light (Wii U: Ubisoft, £7.99) is beautiful, brilliant and slightly too short, but for the £8 price tag it's more than enough. If you like Trine, Rayman and Final Fantasy, you'll love this.

If you've downloaded NES Remix or NES Remix 2, you can get these games proper cheap like on Wii U:

Super Mario Bros. 3 (£2.44)

Donkey Kong 3 (£1.74)

Metroid (£1.74)

Balloon Fight (£1.74)

Pinball (£1.74)

Wrecking Crew (£1.74)

NES Open Tournament Golf (£1.74)

The new games this week are Mega Man 3 (3DS Virtual Console: Capcom, £3.59) and Me and My Pets 3D (3D: TREVA Entertainment, £24.99) - it's a quiet week, but a fairly good one for the Virtual Console.

The eShop sale will begin on Thursday 14th August.

Assassins Creed IV and Rayman are both pretty tempting. But AC is like 18GB large in file size and I dont really want to spend extra on a big hard drive. Rayman I have seen cheaper and I have been saving for Smash Bros and Hyrule Warriors so I think I will wait it out a bit longer.

Also is it just me or do Ubisoft have more sales than Nintendo. I think Ubisoft have had three this year (I don't see why they just don't make these a permanent price drop) and Nintendo are on a grand total of none. I want to download 3D World for a tenner as well.

I already own all of these (Except Zombi U). My problem is that I'm not sure I really want to support Ubisoft anymore. We're STILL waiting for Watchdogs and the Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin's creed 4... and neither AC: unity or AC: Rogue are coming to Wii U at all which feels like a real slap in the face for someone who has supported their games on Wii U. That said dropping the price of these titles to raise Ubisoft's share of the installbase on Wii U does seem like a bit of an outreach to try and see if they can increase the market on Wii U and hopefully develop for the console in future but the Wii U shouldn't be an after thought for Ubisoft it should be front and centre alongside the other consoles.

Seriously, what on earth has happened with Shovel Knight? It came out over a month ago in the US and I just don't get how it can take this long to release over here. I just want to play it soooooo much!

Damn and Blast!!!!! I got Assassins Creed IV for Ł19.99, a week before this sale!

But, all the other games on sale, people should definitely pick them up. I would especially recommend Splinter Cell Blacklist, gameplay is really good and online (if you can get it working) is particularly fun.

That's because the eShop doesn't update with new content and sales until about 14:00, so check back later.

Black Flag well worth a buy.( Looks like some guys will need a hard drive before long. Bought me a Sonnics with a Y cable as a cheap alternative and works fine.)

I want to get Assassins creed Black Flag but it seems like we'll never get the dlc tbh.. I feel like I should get it on PC.

I've got a 250gb hdd attached to my Wii U now though. I bought a new 1tb drive for my desktop and put the old one into a USB caddy which is working out great.
