Speakers said at an opening ceremony of a week of a photo exhibition held at the National Cultural Centre in Uganda that the world progressives always remember the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung.

Jean Marie Lambret, chief of the French Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, noted at a seminar that it is thanks to the invincible revolutionary armed forces commanded by Kim Jong Il that the Korean people have defended socialism and paved a wide avenue for building a great prosperous powerful nation despite many stern trials.
Juzef Lachut, vice-chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Polish Communist Party, at round-table talks in Poland said that socialist Korea is dynamically advancing though the U.S. is brandishing the nuclear stick against it and escalating the pressure upon it after branding it as part of "an axis of evil" and an "outpost of tyranny".
This strength of the DPRK is based on the Juche idea fathered by Kim Il Sung, the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il and the might of the single-minded unity of its people around him.
A message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the round-table talks.

The visitors laid floral baskets before the portraits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and paid their respects.
They said Kim Il Sung build Korean-style socialism, the best in the world, by founding the immortal Juche idea and successfully carrying it into practice. They expressed the belief that the cause of global independence desired by the President would certainly be accomplished under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Meanwhile, on April 14 and 15, a floral basket was sent by a chairman of the youth organization of a Malaysian party and a large bouquet by a deputy secretary of the General People's Committee of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to Korean embassies in their countries.

End to U.S. Colonial Rule over S. Korea Called for

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front in a statement Tuesday on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the April 19 Popular Uprising called for intensifying the struggle against the U.S. and war and for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces under the uplifted banner of three forms of cooperation for national independence, peace against war and reunification and patriotism with the same spirit and courage as displayed by the participants in the April 19 Popular Uprising, according to Kuguk Jonson Internet site. What the martyrs of the uprising so ardently desired has not yet come true, the statement noted, adding that the reality urgently calls on the south Korean people to carry forward their spirit and drive the U.S. imperialist aggression forces, the root cause of all sorts of misfortune and pain of the nation, out of south Korea, and put an end to the 60 year-long disgraceful history of their colony. All the people should turn out in the struggle to terminate the U.S. colonial rule over south Korea in a do-or-die spirit under the slogan "Let's not allow the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea to go beyond 60 years," the statement urged.

U.S. War Plan against North Flailed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification in a statement on April 16 reportedly urged the U.S. to clearly see the strength of the great unity of the Korean nation and promptly retract the "OPLAN 5029-05," a harebrained plan for a war against the north. Recalling that the U.S. had of late drawn up the "OPLAN 5029-05,h the keynote of which is to induce a war in the Korean Peninsula, the statement said the current situation requires an unequivocal realization of south-north cooperation for national independence, cooperation for peace against war and cooperation for reunification and patriotism.
Our youth and students will wage a death-defying struggle to the end as the vanguard of national cooperation under the uplifted banner of peace against the U.S. and war and the withdrawal of the U.S. forces, stressed the statement.

Seminar on National Cooperation against U.S. Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- A seminar on national cooperation against the U.S. was reportedly sponsored by the Reunification Solidarity in Kyonggi Province on April 15. Speakers there said the strategic flexibility of the U.S. forces present in south Korea meant the extension of their role to that of an aggressive "rapid deployment task force" and offered a revealing insight into the background, purpose and danger of the conversion of the U.S. troops into an "Asian-Pacific task force."
Recalling the uproar of the commander of the U.S. Eighth Army in south Korea that "the U.S. troops in south Korea might be hurled into any place of the world where they are needed any time" and the plan for the building of a missile base in Inchon following the completion of the deployment of a missile base in Kwangju and the scheme to transfer and expand the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, they said they were all targeted against Northeast Asia and were a strategy for a preemptive strike at the north.
Referring to the current inter-Korean situation, the speakers said a foundation had been laid for the 70 million fellow countrymen to unite as one for peace, reconciliation and cooperation in the Korean Peninsula with the formation of a preparatory committee for joint functions of Koreans in the north and the south and overseas to implement the June 15 joint declaration.
They underscored the need to carry on the reunification movement more undauntedly through the cohesion of the independence camp and the great unity of all the Koreans.

Information Activities for Withdrawal of U.S. Troops Launched

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity and the People's Solidarity of south Korea reportedly held a rally in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on April 15 and declared the start of information activities for the withdrawal of U.S. troops. Kwon O Hyok, external cooperation director of the Reunification Solidarity, and other speakers noted that most of the people polled recently answered the United States was the biggest threat to Korean security and said if the Koreans pooled a little more efforts, they would be able to drive away the U.S. troops and, furthermore, frustrate the U.S. backup of Japan's moves for the revival of militarism.
They stated they would set every Friday as the "Day of the movement for the Withdrawal of U.S. Troops" and stage anti-U.S. rallies and information activities in the area of Kwanghwamun and Jongro in Seoul to draw the masses into this movement.
At the end of the rally, the participants started a demonstration, chanting anti-U.S. slogans and distributing leaflets among citizens.

Achievement of Independent Reunification This Year Urged

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- The Japan Mission of the Anti-imperialist National Democratic Front reportedly released a statement on April 19 on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the April 19 Popular Uprising in south Korea. It called for making this year the year of the withdrawal of the U.S. forces and the year of independent reunification by waging an undaunted nationwide struggle to put an end to the U.S. colonial rule and occupation with the patriotic mettle and fighting spirit displayed by the martyrs of the uprising. It went on:
We have not yet realized the desire of the April 19 fighters 45 years ago.
The United States is now on the run day in and day out to realize its wild ambition to occupy the whole of the Korean Peninsula, while strengthening its domination and interference in this land. If this is allowed to go on, a progressive reform of society is unthinkable and a war holocaust is unavoidable, not to speak of the reunification of the country.
In the era after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the Korean people should direct the sharp edger of their struggle at the U.S. imperialists to write finis to their 60 year-long colonial rule and occupation and heighten vigilance against Japan which has unsheathed the sword of reinvasion again.

Anniversary of April 19 Popular Uprising Observed in Seoul

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- A commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the April 19 Popular Uprising was reportedly held at the Hungsadan Hall in the University Street in Seoul on April 18 under the sponsorship of the "April Revolution Society" of south Korea. Speakers at the commemoration included Ro Jung Son, co-representative of the society, Ham Se Ung, chief director of the Society for Commemorating the Movement for Democracy, Ri Kyu Jae, chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, and Song Hyo Won, chairwoman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils.
They noted that the spirit of the April revolution was that of independence to revive the soul of the nation and the spirit of aspiring after reconciliation and unity transcending national division. The slogans shouted by the uprisers suggested that the April Popular Uprising was obviously a movement for national liberation and the country's reunification, they added.
They said the April revolution was the one left unfinished and in order to complete it, it was necessary to drive the U.S. imperialists out of south Korea, regain the national sovereignty and reunify the country.
They called on the people from all walks of life in south Korea to do every possible effort to achieve independence, democracy and reunification with the same vim and vigor with which the participants in the uprising toppled the dictatorial regime of Syngman Rhee 45 years ago.
A "declaration on the 45th anniversary of the April revolution" was issued at the commemoration.
It said that this year is a historic year marking the 60th anniversary of the country's liberation and the fifth anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. The situation now prevailing in the Korean Peninsula has driven the nation to the crossroads of war or peace, independence or subjugation, it noted, and went on:
The U.S. forces present in south Korea for 60 years are now keen on establishing military supremacy in Northeast Asia under the pretext of redeployment. The U.S. should not reorganize its forces in south Korea but completely withdraw them from there.
Japan is getting more undisguised in its moves to revive militarism. The U.S. is egging Japan on to emerge a military power, straining the situation on the peninsula. A poem "Proper Answer of History" was recited at the commemoration.

Japanese Woman Interviewed in Beijing

Beijing, April 18 (KCNA) -- An Phil Hwa, Japanese woman in the DPRK, was interviewed by media persons at the DPRK embassy in Beijing Monday. Born in Katsushika in Tokyo Metropolis on November 24, 1938, she came to the DPRK together with her Korean husband in December 1959 in the first batch of returnees from Japan. She has since lived there for 43 years.
She has two children and three grandchildren there.
She told the following story of how she was coaxed into going back to Japan:
In 2002 I was living with my daughter in Kilju County, North Hamgyong Province. On December 9 that year, I met a man on my way home from visiting my son living in Taehongdan County, Ryanggang Province. The man asked me to meet my younger sister briefly, saying my younger sister in Japan was waiting for me in China. I eagerly wished to meet my younger sister as she and I had been apart 43 years. I went across the River Tuman on the back of the man but there was not my younger sister in China. I met a Japanese journalist and two Korean-speaking men in Dalian. They negotiated with the Japanese consulate general in Shenyang to take me to Japan.
In Japan I met my younger sister whom I had eagerly wanted to see and my old friends, but lived there with tears for yearning for my grandchildren as the days go by. I learned through phone calls and letters that my grandchildren are in university, which I could not image in my dreams.
I was cheated by bad guys into returning to Japan but my children and grandchildren have been cared for in the DPRK, free from any discrimination.
This hard fact once again made me feel thankful for the benevolent politics of leader Kim Jong Il.
This prompted me to harden my determination to go back to the DPRK, to the care of the leader.
I intend to go back to where there is my house and my children and grandchildren are waiting for me, as a proud citizen of the DPRK.
Present at the press conference were an official of the Information Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, media persons of China and foreign correspondents in Beijing.

U.S. War Plan Slammed

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- The United States and the south Korean bellicose forces recently drew up the "OPLAN 5029-05". It is a war scenario more adventurous and provocative than any of the previous ones they had constantly supplemented and rounded off for a preemptive attack on the DPRK, says Minju Joson in a commentary today. The keynote of the newly drafted "OPLAN 5029-05," the news analyst goes on, is that the U.S. and south Korea should play the main role in openly inducing a war on the Korean Peninsula. Herein lies the grave nature of this war scenario against the DPRK. According to it, the south Korea-U.S. "combined forces command" will undertake all actions from working out detailed plans to carrying out operations. Under the previous plans, the U.S. Pacific Command was to mainly take charge of military operations and actions. So, the "OPLAN 5029-05" is an adventurous scenario aimed at the provocation of a Korean war by the "combined forces command" any time, and it is a very dangerous document allowing a preemptive attack on the DPRK in a short time.
The plan has made it all the clearer that the U.S. harbors in actuality the sinister intention to stifle the idea and system of the DPRK, though it makes free with the phrases of "peaceful solution to the nuclear issue" and "resumption of the six-way talks". Now that the U.S. seeks to contain the DPRK by force, the army and people of the latter have no alternative but to put up a total rebuff.

The mayor of the city made a speech and the chief of protocol of the city introduced the diploma of honorary citizenship at the meeting.
Written in the diploma is a decision that the Loja City Government Council registers the three generals of Mt. Paektu as honorary citizens of the city and presents the key to the city to Marshal Kim Jong Il.

Flower Festival Visited by 100,000 People Every Day

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- The 7th Kimilsungia Festival is going on successfully after its opening on April 13 to commemorate the Day of the Sun, the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. The Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition, the venue of the festival, is visited by over 100,000 people on a daily average, 122,400 on the sixteenth. Now the visitors total 750,000. More than 1,000 of them are foreigners and overseas Koreans. Ri Pyong Pha, a department director of the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, said this in an interview with KCNA.
The festival venue, decorated with over 10,000 Kimilsungia pots and other kinds of rare flowers, resembles a sea of flowers.
Looking round the festival, the visitors greatly miss President Kim Il Sung, who enjoys deep reverence from all people, and feel a pride in holding him in high esteem as eternal President of the DPRK.
Mahmoud Mohamed Osman Atik, military attache of the Egyptian Embassy here, wrote in the visitor's book that the beautiful flower will be everlasting as it is named after Kim Il Sung, who made a great contribution to the Korean revolution and performed an immortal exploit for world peace.
The flower festival will continue until April 22.

Flower Festival Associated with Sincerity of Foreigners

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- A lot of foreigners are participating in the 7th Kimilsungia Festival (April 13-22), which is going on successfully in Pyongyang. On display there are some 250 Kimilsungia pots associated with the sincerity of friendship and public organizations and individuals of different countries, representatives of international organizations and diplomatic missions here, Chinese residents in Korea and overseas Koreans.
The figure is some 100 more than the last festival.
The Kimilsungia pots exhibited by 26 friendship and solidarity organizations, institutions and public figures of foreign countries mirror their deep reverence for President Kim Il Sung, who made a great contribution to the cause of global independence. Among them are the Nepal-Korea Friendship Association, Latin American and Caribbean Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, delegation of the International Horticultural Exhibition Organizing Committee under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, and Martin Lotscher, chairman of Swiss Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification.
Catching the eyes of visitors is the stand of the Indonesian embassy here, decorated with 20 pots prepared by its officials and their families.
Twenty-five overseas Korean organizations and many personages have exhibited more than 80 Kimilsungia pots reflecting their respect for the President, who paved the way for the great unity of the nation and dedicated his whole life to national reunification. They include the Kumgangsan Opera Troupe under the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Korean resident in China Ko Kwi Ja and Yun I Sang's family.
Kim Sung Gil, an official of the Korean Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, told KCNA that the current festival has drawn more foreign organizations, figures and overseas Koreans than the previous ones.

Enlarged Plenary Meeting of Cabinet Held

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- An enlarged plenary meeting of the DPRK Cabinet was held. The meeting discussed two agenda items: "On the results of the implementation of the state budget for Juche 93 (2004) and the measures for fulfilling the state budget for this year adopted as an ordinance at the 3rd Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly" and "On the review of the implementation of the national economic plan for the first quarter of the year and the measures for fulfilling the national economic plan for the second quarter of the year".
Reporters and speakers noted that sufficient money was provided to make a new breakthrough in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation last year, and referred to achievements made in carrying out the national economic plan for the first quarter of this year.
Saying that the Korean people are now faced with heavy yet honorable task to glorify the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of the country as a grand festival of victors unprecedented in the history of the nation, the meeting set forth tasks facing all the fields and units to effect fresh miracles and innovations in production and construction in the second quarter of the year.
It was specially stressed at the meeting that the second quarter is of weighty importance in carrying out the WPK's policy of bringing about radical turn in agriculture and all efforts should be concentrated on farming.
The meeting fixed it as an important economic strategy to step up the reconstruction and modernization of the national economy and called for a vigorous drive to carry it out. And it laid down tasks facing different fields of the economy.
Premier Pak Pong Ju and Cabinet members were present at the meeting.
Attending it as observers were chiefs of organs directly under the authority of the Cabinet, chairmen of provincial, city and county people's committees, chairmen of provincial rural economy committees and leading officials of complexes and major industrial establishments.

"Resolution" of Meeting of UN Commission on Human Rights Rejected

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- A "resolution" malignantly slandering the DPRK was adopted at the 61st meeting of the UN Commission on Human Rights held in Geneva recently. In this regard, a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry released a statement today declaring that human rights precisely mean national sovereignty and the DPRK will take a decisive measure against the continued misuse of the human rights issue as leverage for anti-DPRK hostile campaign.
The DPRK will never recognize the "resolution", which groundlessly slandered it over the non-existent "human rights issue", and bitterly and categorically rejects it as part of the moves of the hostile forces to isolate and stifle it, the statement noted, and continued:
Like last year's, the recent "resolution" is peppered with poisonous articles and misinformation some dishonest forces of the world community have long cooked up to tarnish the image of the system in the DPRK and put pressure on it. It has reached the acme of politicization and selectivity.
The "resolution" is chiefly aimed to overthrow the system in the DPRK.
It is well known that the United States has regarded the human rights issue as well as the nuclear issue as main leverage to escalate the tension in the Korean Peninsula and isolate and stifle the DPRK.
In its annual "report on human rights situation", the U.S. has malignantly slandered the DPRK and other countries. Worse still, it adopted even the "North Korean Human Rights Act," spending a huge amount of money for its anti-DPRK campaign over the human rights issue and plugging its allied forces and even non-governmental organizations into the campaign.
The adoption of the recent "resolution", too, was one more sinister hostile act perpetrated by Western countries including Britain and Japan which have zealously joined the U.S. in the moves to stifle the DPRK at its instigation.
It is a politically motivated document, a clear indication of the high-handed practice of the West keen on applying selectivity and double standards in dealing with the human rights issues.
What is urgent for resolving the present world human rights issues is quite clear to everyone.
If the UN Commission on Human Rights is to properly discharge its mission, it is urgent to focus the debate on the U.S. above all.
The U.S. is chiefly to blame for human rights abuses and crimes against humanity as it is beset with poor human rights performances at home and has committed massacres of civilians and maltreatment of POWs in such illegal wars of aggression as the Iraqi war. Such being hard facts, the recent meeting mentioned no word about the U.S., the world's worst violator of human rights. It only attacked those progressive countries which have independently advanced contrary to the ideology of the West.
This eloquently proves that the commission allegedly handling human rights issues in the international arena has miserably played into the hands of those forces seeking a sinister political purpose in the human rights issue.
The recent adoption of the "resolution" once again proved the truth that the human rights precisely mean national sovereignty.
For anyone to talk about national sovereignty and dignity without any strength to protect oneself is nothing but an empty talk.
We are convinced of this through our past history and our practice today.
The DPRK has invariably maintained the principle of reacting with the toughest stand to anyone who dares slander and provoke it.
Those countries which took the lead in seeking the adoption of the "resolution" hostile to the DPRK should clearly understand this and act with discretion.
In particular, we will certainly force Japan to pay for having brought the already settled "abduction issue" to Geneva for its inclusion in the "resolution" and kicked up an anti-DPRK racket.
Japan has not yet made any apology and compensation for the hideous crimes perpetrated against humanity in the past. It is, therefore, not qualified to be a leading member of the international community of good virtue and faith, much less having the face to talk about the human rights issue.
The man-centered socialism in the DPRK under which man is regarded as dearer than anything else and everything is made to serve him is happy home to its people as it provides them with genuine freedom and rights.
The U.S. and its allied hostile forces should know that their despicable anti-DPRK human rights racket is as foolish an act as trying to sweep the sea with a broom. Such act will only harden the determination of the army and people of the DPRK to protect their ideology and system at the cost of their lives.
