Developing the profession
One of the Society’s core purposes is to determine and ensure the highest standards in all we do. With this in mind, we aim to promote and advance the discipline in accordance with developing our profession.
The Society provides a number of services to develop and enhance our profession:
Chartered membership - CPsychol
Our Chartered membership reflects the highest standard of psychological knowledge and expertise. It is our gold standard, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and high ethical standards of practice, teaching and research. Chartered Members are entitled to use the designation ‘CPsychol’.
Accreditation Through Partnership
Accreditation through partnership is the Society’s process for ensuring that quality standards in education and training are met by all courses and training programmes on an ongoing basis. It is how we reach a view on whether psychology courses are suitable to support students’ achievement of learning outcomes, and are supported by an appropriate resource base.
BPS Learning Centre
The BPS Learning Centre is the Society’s learning and development portal. It provides learning and CPD opportunities to support psychologists and those working in related fields with their professional development.
Psychological testing
The Society’s Psychological Testing Centre (PTC) provides information and services relating to standards in tests and testing for takers, users, developers and members of the public.
Society qualifications
Society qualifications are equivalent to accredited postgraduate training courses. They are intended for independent candidates who are not attached to accredited postgraduate training courses and wish to take an independent approach to learning.
Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors
The Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS) is designed to recognise psychologists with special expertise in supervision. Registrants receive a certificate confirming their status as a psychology supervisor.
Chartered Scientist
Chartered Scientist status reflects best practice in science and is viewed as a significant qualification throughout science professions in the UK.
EuroPsy
The Society has suspended its involvement in the EuroPsy scheme until further notice. We will not be accepting any new applications for the time being. Please note, this does not affect those who have already been awarded the EuroPsy Certificate.
