Sharing our Science is an important part of the Society’s work

We aim to communicate psychology by providing information to the public, raising awareness and the influence of the discipline in society.

Sharing our Science public events

We organise and promote public events to share evidence-based science in ways that are easy for people to understand.

Our annual flagship lecture is jointly run with the British Academy.

The 2012 BPS/BA Lecture was given by Professor Ian J. Deary from the University of Edinburgh on 'An intelligent Scotland: Professor Sir Godfrey Thomson and the Scottish Mental Surveys 1932 and 1947'

Previous lectures BPS/BA Lectures have covered topics from climate change to happiness.

Public engagement grants

Society members are eligible to apply for our public engagement grants. Grants are available to support members wishing to promote psychology to the public and help the Society to take psychology to society.

Other ways we share our science

As well as our monthly magazine, The Psychologist, and our journals the Society has links with the Science Museum. Our press centre also receives enquiries from around the world asking for experts to talk about psychology in the media.
