Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide kouk2002 wrote: They did say they would be added at a later date. Fairy Tail each episode lasted about 4 weeks I think it was, as well as being premium members only I think(been a long time since I read that post). Would like to think they are available for a reasonable amount of time, considering how long it would take to get through the episode from start to present. This whole ordeal reminds me of patent laws or maybe it is related to that. |

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide No, because the Fairy Tale episodes were like that from episode 1 ... if they are going to have the rights starting from episode 1, that means they are either getting their first sublicense from Funimation as part of the deal, or else its a non-exclusive license on the old One Piece episodes. For UK members, run over right now and ask Manga to let Crunchyroll sublicense ... I'm sure that Crunchyroll would love to have UK streaming rights too. This is intriguing and now, I want to know how this whole rights and privileges are processed in order to be used as...royalties? |

The latest Alexa rankings put UK visits to CR at 4.7% of traffic. Australia, Brazil, Peru, and Venuzeula alone total 7.4%, so if they are "a tiny percentage", what does that say about the UK? The U.S comes in at 41.7% (and is the only country in double digits), so why would CR not get a oft-requested series for the United States? Unless you believe CR has some special grudge against the UK, it is more reasonable to believe that CR simply couldn't obtain the license for the UK (at least at this time). You ever think the reason your precious country in the US gets the most traffic because it has the most content(and a much bigger population)? Hmmm that's an interesting idea isn't it? The UK anime and now Manga selection is great i love crunchyroll they give me enough (but not as much as the US) 4.7% considering the size of the UK is quite a large amount of people. Have you seen the Drama selection in the UK? It's below pitiful. I already put my point across i'm frustrated because they lorded this as a massive announcement even though it isn't because as i said you guys in the US have gosh knows how many places to watch this show. So they jump through all these hoops to get a show for a population (the US) who already can access it elsewhere instead of trying to come to an arrangement with whoever owns the UK and other EU streaming rights. Not to mention the other 170 countries Crunchyroll serves. Like i said above if this really is MangaUK blocking this content on Crunchyroll i'm angry angry at them because MangaUK don't even have a streaming service which means essentially they're hoarding all these licenses in the UK an sticking there tongues out at consumers. Oh yeah 7.4% is a massive amount for those countries COMBINED. Australia is 1.8% of Crunchyroll's traffic that means here in the UK more then twice the amount of people visit the site. Your stats mean nothing my original statement remains true. Another fun thing if you add ireland to the UK that's 6.8% we're not far behind those 4 countries you listed. If Crunchyroll gets the initial rights now for a few countries it can pave the way to get additional rights for other countries in the future. If the anime's production team, creator, etc, sees that Crunchyroll is pulling in a lot of episode views then they will be much more willing to make a deal with them for the rights once the current contract expires. If they don't take the show at all for any countries then it is a lot less likely that they will ever be able to get the rights for it. For all you know the UK could still be under contract for another month and would be added to the list of countries at that time. You can't just go around breaking contracts unless you want to open yourself up to lawsuits. The initial list of simulcast countries is not final by any means. I have seen them add countries before and I am positive it will happen again at some point. If they take the opportunity to start streaming One Piece now, it is much more likely that they will be able to add more countries once the current contracts expire. |

Normally when it says "Latin American and the Caribbean", or "Central and South America and the Caribbean". There's a handful of "Latin American" series that are Mexico, Central America, South American and the Spanish Caribbean (Cuba & Dominican Republic), but most "Latin American" licenses include the West Indies (and good luck against India). Once a video has stream, you can normally tell from the .rss feed. Go to the series page, add ".rss", hit Control-U in many browsers to look at the source code, and search for the media:restrictions tag. Yes, certainly ~ whoever holds the rights handed over money in some way to gain those rights, and they recoup that money, if they do, with the revenues they earn from the royalties. The details can range from simple to complex, because its determined by how the contract terms are written, and how strong the relationship is between the companies. |

But still One Piece is still my favorite and while everyone is watching it even free members I won't be. I just hope CR aren't giving up on bring it to us also. Stop complaining! Just download the damn torrent! Seriously....I can think of nearly 10 ways to watch OP illegally online. And the fact that CR got it means HS will release right afterwards in torrent sites, which is great for everyone. |
