US District Court Local Rules

Home < Rules

Each district court, acting by a majority of its district judges, may, after giving appropriate public notice and an opportunity for comment, make and amend rules governing its practice. Fed. R. Civ. P. 83(a)(1); Fed. R. Crim. P. 57(a)(1).

We believe these local rules provide those who litigate in the District with a clear statement of policies and procedures followed by the court and will contribute significantly to improving the administration of justice. However, we always remain open to suggestions and welcome any comments you may have for improving the local rules. Comments should be directed to the Clerk of the Court.
