MTO Research Library Online Catalogue

The MTO Research Library is now providing online access to the library catalogue and more specifically, full text access to the Ministry's Technical Manuals and extensive research collection.

Technical Manuals

Previously distributed by outside publishers, the MTO manuals are now available for downloading and/or printing from the Library catalogue free of charge. Manuals can be accessed searching by title, author or subject. If you wish to see a full list of titles available, enter "technical manual" in the subject search field.

Illustration of paperclip iconPublications, available in PDF form are attached to the catalogue record. Attachments are identified with a paperclip icon. Click on the icon to open the document-viewing box. Some large publications have been attached in two or more sections to assist in downloading.

The Ontario Provincial Standards, Traffic Volumes and CDED can be accessed in their own databases.

MTO's Designated Sources for Material (DSM) is now accessible from The Road Authority website.

Research Reports

In addition to the technical manuals, over 1,600 MTO research publications are also available for downloading and or printing.

Print Copies

If desired, print copies of all Technical Publications can be purchases from ServiceOntario Publications.

Reference Assistance

Library staff provides comprehensive reference and database search services for Ministry of Transportation employees. We provide the same services on transportation related topics for consultants under contract to MTO, staff of other provincial ministries/agencies, and specialised Transportation Libraries.

Members of the general public, including students, are directed to contact their local or institutional library for assistance.

Interlibrary Loans

Library staff loans materials regularly to other libraries anywhere in the world.
