FAQ

The FIFA Ticket Office is responsible for all ticketing to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and has established the regulations for distributing tickets to supporters of participating nations. U.S. Soccer will have an allotment of tickets for all U.S. Men’s National Team matches to distribute, in coordination with the FIFA Ticketing Office, to U.S. Supporters.

What are the eligibility requirements to apply for 2014 World Cup tickets as a U.S. Soccer fan?

First, all applicants for U.S. Soccer’s allotment must be a U.S. Soccer Supporters Club Member, at any level. In addition, all of the applicant’s guests must also be U.S. Soccer Supporters Club Members, at any level. Guests are individuals that would use the applicant’s other purchased tickets.

Fans who are not Supporters Club Members and would like to apply for tickets have until 11:59 p.m. on Feb 1., to become a Member at any level.

Fans can join at ussoccer.com/supporters.

The full list of eligibility requirements is below.

Applicants and guests must:

  • Be USSSC Members (as detailed above)
  • Be either citizens or residents of the United States
  • Have a valid passport prior to applying
  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time they apply for tickets

How do I apply for tickets from U.S. Soccer’s allotment of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets?

U.S. Soccer Supporters Club Members can apply for tickets to all U.S. Men’s National Team matches until 6 a.m. ET on Feb. 7, by accessing a FIFA Ticket Office portal exclusively for U.S. Supporters.

The application process is not first-come, first-served and fans can apply at any point until the deadline.

Does being a Supporters Club Member and completing the application process guarantee me 2014 World Cup tickets?
No. Members who apply through the FIFA Ticket Office portal are not guaranteed tickets. After the conclusion of the application period on Feb. 7, a weighted lottery will be conducted to determine which applicants are awarded tickets.

How will the weighted lottery be conducted?
The weighted lottery is designed to provide an advantage to members based on the length of their time as a member, while also giving all fans the opportunity to receive tickets. No members, regardless of tenure, are guaranteed tickets.

Each match will be drawn independently. Applicants who have applied to multiple matches could be assigned tickets to none, some, or all of the matches.

The draw will work as follows:

  • All applicants will be divided into five (5) Applicant Groups where Supporters Club Membership tenure determines placement in the groups - Group A, Group B, and so on until Group E.
  • The ticket supply is divided into five (5) Ticket Groups – Group 1, Group 2 and so on until Group 5.
  • Draw 1 is conducted with Applicant Group A and Ticket Group 1.
    • Any applicants not selected for tickets in Draw 1 are moved to Draw 2.
  • Draw 2 is conducted with any applicants not selected in Draw 1, Applicant Group B, and Ticket Group 2.
    • Any applicants not selected for tickets in Draw 2 are moved to Draw 3.
  • Draw 3 is conducted with any applicants not selected in Draw 2, Applicant Group C, and Ticket Group 3.
    • Any applicants not selected for tickets in Draw 3 are moved to Draw 4.
  • Draw 4 is conducted with any applicants not selected in Draw 2, Applicant Group D, and Ticket Group 4.
    • Any applicants not selected for tickets in Draw 4 are moved to Draw 5.
  • Draw 5 is conducted with any applicants not selected in Draw 4, Applicant Group E, and Ticket Group 5.

Ticket category requests will then be filled in order by match using Applicant Groups from Group A through Group E.

Upon completion of the weighted lottery, The FIFA World Cup Ticketing Office will contact all applicants directly to confirm whether or not their request for tickets was successful.

How many tickets are available?
FIFA provides U.S. Soccer with an allotment of eight percent of the stadium’s purchasable capacity for each of the three Group Stage matches.

For any of the knockout stage matches, FIFA will provide U.S. Soccer with an allotment of eight percent of the average number of purchasable tickets for all of the stadiums involved at each stage of the knockout rounds.

Are there limits to the number of 2014 World Cup tickets a U.S. Soccer fan can request?
Yes. FIFA ticket sales regulations include certain limits per household for anyone requesting tickets. These limits also apply to all U.S. Soccer fans. A household may apply for tickets to up to seven (7) matches across the entire tournament, no more than four (4) tickets for any single match, and applicants are unable to apply for tickets to two (2) matches that take place on the same day. These limits include all sales phases and applications combined.

Those who submit requests for tickets beyond the household limits stated above (whether through a single request or by combining applications made during various sales phases) risk having all requests for tickets ultimately declined and/or revoked (including those previously confirmed).

Please note that the online order page will not automatically conduct checks on limits when you submit your request. Instead, the request submitted is checked after the sales window has concluded in combination with all other requests received. Please take care to not exceed the stated combined household limits when submitting your request either through the U.S. Soccer Supporters Club Member access or any earlier or later ticket sales phases through FIFA.

Am I required to have a passport to apply for 2014 World Cup tickets?
Yes. All ticket purchasers are required to provide detailed information about the identity of each person using a ticket, including a valid passport number. (Note: This does not have to be a U.S. passport.)

Per FIFA’s requirements, persons’ names may be printed directly onto the face of each ticket, and ticket holders may be required to show identification when entering the stadium. If you plan to apply for tickets and either you or your guest(s) do/does not hold a current passport, we recommend each individual apply for one immediately using the fastest processing method available.

How and when will U.S. Soccer fans know whether their 2014 FIFA World Cup ticket requests are approved?
After the ticket application window for U.S. Soccer’s allotment closes on Feb. 7, 2014, the FIFA World Cup Ticketing Office will contact all applicants directly to confirm whether or not the request for tickets was successful.

Should you be successful in your application for tickets, your payment card will be immediately charged the full amount noted during the application process (including the cost of conditional tickets).

To what matches can U.S. Soccer fans apply for 2014 World Cup tickets from U.S. Soccer’s allotment?
U.S. Soccer’s allotment is for tickets to U.S. matches only, including each of the U.S. Men’s National Team’s three First Round matches. U.S. Soccer fans also have the opportunity to request conditional tickets for the U.S. MNT’s possible knockout round games, including the Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final/Third Place Game. Conditional tickets will only be issued if the U.S. advances.

What is a conditional ticket?
Anyone who applies for a ticket to follow the U.S. for matches in the knockout rounds will be applying for a conditional ticket, which will only be valid if the U.S. team advances. Applicants will be required to use a payment card to pay the full amount for all tickets up front. Should the U.S. fail to advance to a stage of the tournament where someone has purchased a ticket, then the ticket purchaser will receive a refund to the payment card used, minus a $10 service fee per ticket.

Can I apply for tickets to non-U.S. World Cup matches?
Yes. U.S. Soccer fans may apply for tickets to non-U.S. World Cup matches by submitting a ticket application directly through FIFA. Fans should visit the 2014 FIFA World Cup Ticketing page at FIFA.com/tickets for more information. If fans are successful in obtaining tickets through this method, they will be seated with other international fans in an International General Public area. U.S. Soccer fans will only be seated with other U.S. fans if they apply for tickets from U.S. Soccer’s allotment.

Please remember, however, that the household ticket limits apply to all tickets purchased regardless of how, when or in which phase they were purchased. A household may apply for tickets to up to seven (7) matches across the entire tournament, no more than four (4) tickets for any single match, and applicants are unable to apply for tickets to two (2) matches that take place on the same day. These limits include all sales phases and applications combined.

Can I specify seat locations or request seats adjacent to another applicant?
Tickets will be broken into three categories/price levels. The ticket application will give applicants the opportunity to choose which category or categories of tickets they prefer but not allow any more specifics beyond this. FIFA does not offer the option to request adjacent seats to another group or purchaser.

How much will tickets cost?
Tickets are available in three different categories. Each stadium is configured differently, therefore the general category descriptions, listed below, should not be considered definitive in each circumstance.

Category 1: tickets are generally located alongside the pitch
Category 2: tickets are generally located adjacent to Category 1, in the corners
Category 3: tickets are generally located adjacent to Category 2, behind the goals or in the corners

Ticket prices vary according to the match being played and the category of the tickets purchased.

I have already purchased tickets to the 2014 World Cup. Can I also apply for more tickets as a U.S. Soccer fan?
Yes. Please remember, however, that the household ticket limits apply to all tickets purchased regardless of when or in which phase they were purchased. If you were successful during a previous phase in purchasing first-round tickets, it is possible that some of the tickets previously purchased are for U.S. games. Please be aware of this and the household limits detailed above prior to making a request for additional tickets.

What are FIFA’s Ticket Sales Regulations and do they apply to U.S. Soccer fans?
Yes, they apply to U.S. Soccer Fans. Any person wishing to purchase 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets as well as any guests of the purchaser will be bound by FIFA’s Ticket Sales Regulations (which include household limits on the number of tickets each purchaser can obtain), General Terms and Conditions and Stadium Code of Conduct. These documents can be found online at FIFA.com.

I am a U.S. Soccer fan under the age of 18. Can I submit a ticket request?
U.S. Soccer fans under the age of 18 whose families wish to purchase tickets must have a parent/guardian above the age of 18 apply for tickets. Anyone under the age of 18 can be added to an application as guests.

If I am successful in applying for 2014 World Cup tickets, when and how should I expect to receive them?
Tickets will be made available to collect from the FIFA Venue Ticketing Centers distributed across the 12 Brazilian Host Cities. Alternatively, all supporters will have the option of the delivery of the tickets at their own cost.

Who can collect my 2014 World Cup tickets?
The applicant must be the person who collects the tickets. It is essential for the applicant to travel with the payment card used to pay for the tickets. Another form of identification (e.g. passport) may also be required.
