Corporate Sector

World Scouting has partnered with several corporate organisations at World and Regional level. The partners in the corporate sector are chosen with care to ensure that World Scouting’s founding principles and values are held high.

World Scouting engages with corporate partners, whose stated mission, products, services and methods are compatible with WOSM and where such relationships will contribute to the achievement of WOSM’s mission, vision and objectives.

World Scouting seeks to partner with corporate entities:

  • which respect World Scouting’s educational values and commit to a programme of action, including provision of support – financial or in kind – to contribute to Scouting’s work
  • which are leaders in exhibiting corporate social responsibility (CSR) through policy and practice
  • which provide products and services related to World Scouting’s Mission or activity; and which would be good partners to achieve the aims and increase awareness of the Scout Movement
  • which are committed to volunteer action
  • which promote responsible production, use and ultimate disposal of their products and services and adhere to the principles of sustainable development
  • which have a positive image, good reputation and a track record of good ethical behaviour

Some of the corporate organisations World Scouting has partnered with are: Cadburys, Volvo, ADECCO, IBM, Alcoa, Indesit, Canon, Orange and Toyota.

Volvo Adventure

The Volvo Adventure is an annual international competition, launched by Volvo in 2001 together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). World Scouting and UNESCO have since also joined as partners. It recognises and rewards practical actions (projects) undertaken by young people from all over the world to solve local environmental problems.

To enter you form a team of 2 to 5 members aged 13-16, with one adult supporting the team. Projects can focus on any environmental subject of your choice based on local needs, and will be published on the Volvo Adventure website. The best projects are selected for an all expenses paid trip to Gothenburg, Sweden where they can win: 1st place = 10,000 USD, 2nd = 6,000 USD and 3rd = 4,000 USD. The top 10 teams shortlisted for the finals will automatically qualify for the Scouts of the World Award.

The deadline for submitting a project is January 31, 2014. For more information, inspiration and registration details, visit the Volvo Adventure website.
