Boeing has started final assembly of a 767, which takes the production total for the twinjet widebody to 1,000 airframes.

Only one other aircraft type has reached the same marker - the 747, with more than 1,400 delivered to date - although both the 777 and Airbus's A330 have each secured over 1,000 orders.

Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways is to receive the aircraft, a 767-300ER variant, the last to undergo final assembly on this particular line at Everett.

Boeing intends to transfer the line to a smaller station. The first 767 to be completed there will also be a -300ER for ANA.
