There's always been something erotic about vampires - only able to go out at night, kept young and beautiful by the machinations of powerful occult forces, and unforgivably deadly to any unlucky enough to cross their path. In traditional vampire literature, the bloodsuckers only fed on those of the opposite sex, which meant for every Dracula there's a bunch of neck-punctured ladies left behind. It wasn't long after Bram Stoker penned his original vampire tale that a female Nosferatu was conceptualized - inspired by the real-life atrocities of the Hungarian countess Elizabet Bathory, who would supposedly bathe in the blood of virgins to maintain her youth. Female vampires are known for being seductive as well as murderous, and we've seen them in film, TV, comics and even video games. Moka Akashiya
The Japanese have a slightly different idea of what makes a bloodsucker tick. As seen in the smash hit anime Rosario + Vampire, follows a normal everyday Japanese high school kid named Tsukune, who due to a clerical error ends up enrolled at a school for ghouls, monsters, and other supernatural types. The first person he meets is the lovely Moka Akashiya, a cheerful, purple-haired girl who also happens to be a vampire. She's drawn to Tsukune for obvious reasons, she wants to sup on his delicious blood. But the relationship between the two is a little more complicated, Tsukune eventually lets her drink from him so that she can stay alive, and Moka reveals her "inner vampire," kept in check by a rosary around her neck. When it's removed, she turns into a fierce predator that kicks ass with abandon.
