This lively variation on the harem romantic comedy has lots of fan service and some great concepts, but its shaky plot is a hurdle which trips up the whole production. Condition yourself to ignore the plot, though, and this can still be an entertaining view.

Sure, there are mad assassins getting into knife fights and all, but the most memorable confrontations are the ones fought with words, ideas, and emotions.

A son of Satan trains to defeat his father in this slick take on shonen action clichés. It isn't weighty or smart, and is most definitely not original, but it is loads of fun.

Deadman Wonderland episodes 1-6 streaming
Ridiculous story elements, visceral cruelty, and a twisted flair almost elevate this explicitly gory actioner to the level of absurdity, but an outstanding visual, technical, and musical effort keep it chugging along in a highly entertaining fashion.

The studio responsible for producing Makoto Shinkai's works now offers two unrelated one-shots, each featuring an offbeat tale of love and discovery. The stories have good concepts but less effective follow-through.
