February sales of Chinese A-class cars up 2 percent

BEIJING— Chinese brands’ A-class car sales in February grew by 2 percent year-on-year to 120,132 units, and their market share was down by 0.3 percentage point to 29.4 percent.

The combined sales of top 10 models of the brands were 64,701 units, accounting for nearly 54 percent of the total sales.   

 

BYD led the segment among the Chinese brands with the sales of 21,353 units, down 17.2 percent on a yearly basis. Geely and Great Wall took the second and third positions by the sales at 16,267 and 11,916 units, up 7.3 percent and down 29.6 percent respectively.

In the first two months this year, Chinese brand sales in this segment came up to 343,483 units, up 36.7 percent, and their market share was up by 1.3 percentage points compared to the same period of last year to 30.8 percent.

The combined sales of top 10 models during this period were 180,365 units, and took up 52.5 percent of the total sales.

BYD stood out by the sales of 60,430 A-class cars among the Chinese brands from January to February, up 21.6 percent year-on-year.
