Wrote... just seemed to me the article on the reload data about the 308 caliber was kinda bland in the fact that you said it should bbe used in the savage model lever action and that why would anyone want it in a semi auto, kinda as though u didn appreciate the particular caliber, but explain to me why it is a common caliber for sniper guns and seem to be very popolar for deer hunting and also i have seen articles in hunting magazines were elk was taken, im imperssed with al your caliber history and imformation but was suprized and the low rateing you gave the 308. no big deal just courious. Webmaster's Comment Emmett, The information about the 308 Winchester is from the Hodgdon Data Manual, 26th Edition. It is NOT my personal opinion. However, the information stated that when used in the Savage Model 99 it was far superior to the .30-30 class of cartridges. Not to mention the opening lines of the article: "The .308 Winchester has won more benchrest matches than any other cartridge above the 6mm caliber. And continues to win more Hunter class benchrest matches than all other cartridges combined."
