Users pages improvement
posted 10/19/13
I have re-factored the pages about the games each user has played, owned, preferred, etc. to the new layout.
These pages are now totally separated from the classic groups pages, both for layout and logic, and are instead strictly linked to the user profile page.

The thumbnails now take all the top section, but they are still ordered by global popularity. I'm looking how to improve this, based on the available data.

In less than three months, 2000 more games have been added, we now have 87003 games in UVL!

Welcome, new editors.
posted 09/18/13
We already exchanged some emails, but let me say welcome to all the new editors!

UVL has never been a copy of some other site, most features were simply asked and discussed here by and with the other editors, by so I'm sure something will be missing, but something else will be discovered.

We are a small but very engaged team, I'm sure the other editors (and me for sure) will be happy to sort any doubt.

August updates
posted 08/25/13
Some recent updates:

- The server hardware was updated to 2X memory and storage. This should improve the (already good) performances.

- I'm removing the social buttons in favor of the colorful and faster static social icons (seen for example in the homepage, platforms and companies pages).
Despite being useful, they were slow and ugly. Let's see how goes with the new ones.

- The global search was updated to the new layout making it full width, gaining even more space removing the right column. Some speed improvements too.

- The user page was updated to the new layout too, removing some bits, improving others, and making the left bar wider considering the long "about me" editors have.

Google Games is closing soon
posted 06/21/13
For those who don't know what it is
Google Games is a social gaming service offered by Google. Google Games can be found by Google+ users on one of the tabs within the Google+ interface. It launched on August 11, 2011 with 16 games. Shortly thereafter the library of available titles soared to 44. But since then game started to be removed or migrated to other social game sites leaving 32 as of today.

Unlike Facebook Games, the interface was less visible and Google Games notifications did not appear along in the main interfaces like other G+ notifications. This strategy of separating games from other interactions was possibly intended to give G+ a more serious image than Facebook or to let users keep their digital social gaming life separate from the rest of their digital social life. However, it seem these strategies are not desirable by G+ users nor the game creators.

NaClBox, DOSBox in Google Native Client
posted 12/31/12
Robert Isaacs has created NaClBox; DOSBox in Google Native Client. Not sure why since DOSbox currently runs on every platform Chrome does; plus many more. Nevertheless. Play their DOS games on it, play your DOS games on it, play online, play offline, upload you DOS games to their server and play from any device running the Chrome browser. Note, GNaCl does not work on Chrome Mobile. I can't say I see the usefulness of it as DOSbox is far more ubiquitous than GNaCl.
