SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Thursday is the six month anniversary of the opening of the new Exploratorium.
The historic hands on museum reopened on San Francisco's waterfront, where it's getting rave reviews and two and a half times more visitors than at the old building in the Palace of Fine Arts.
ABC7 is the Exploratorium's official T.V. partner. This Sunday, Oct. 20th at 6:30 p.m., ABC7 News Anchor Dan Ashley hosts a special half-hour program about what's got visitors coming back for more.
We have a preview of one of the fascinating spectacles you are unlikely to see anywhere else. It involves a 300 pound block of ice, some very thin wire and a motorcycle.
The plan is to cut the block of ice in half, but have it remain whole. It's a crazy demonstration of a physics principle called regelation, the same phenomena that makes giant glaciers move slowly forward.
