At MetaGeek, one of our core tenets is “Always Learn, Always Teach.” One of the ways we put this into practice is through our free Tips & Tricks newsletter. In this series of short, informative lessons, you’ll pick up and reinforce Wi-Fi fundamentals that will help you get the most out of your Wi-Fi implementations.

In the first issue, we discuss choosing the right Wi-Fi channel. As you may know, there are 11 channels (in the U.S., at least) in the the 2.4 GHz band for you to run your access point on. However, we contend there should only be three.

After learning the reasoning behind selecting non-overlapping channels, we move on to teach you about adjacent and co-channel congestion. When you know about what causes these two types of Wi-Fi interference, it will be easier for you to avoid them when deploying your wireless networks.

Speaking of deployment, chances are you’ve noticed just how packed the 2.4 GHz band is. In the third issue of the Tips & Tricks newsletter, you’ll discover the benefits of introducing dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) access points to your wireless environment.

After our first three newsletters, you’ve got the knowledge to deploy a solid Wi-Fi network. The fourth mini-lesson of our Tips & Tricks series is a primer on the different types of Wi-Fi security, and how to best secure your network.

Our Tips & Tricks newsletter series is totally spam-free, and contains information that’s applicable to all things Wi-Fi (not just our products!). In the future, we plan on covering a wide variety of informative topics, ranging from why you aren’t getting the internet speed you’re paying for, to antenna design, to why your Wi-Fi sucks in the kitchen.
