BART resumes normal service after fatality on tracks

Updated at 09:10 AM today

Normal service has resumed on BART's Richmond line after a morning fatality caused major delays, a BART spokesman said.

The death, which is believed to have been a suicide, caused the closure of the El Cerrito del Norte station.

BART spokesman Jim Allison said at 8:15 a.m. that the station had been reopened and that service was getting back to normal.

There were still system-wide residual delays of five to 10 minutes, according to BART.

BART first reported the situation shortly before 5:30 a.m.

During the closure of the El Cerrito del Norte station, a limited bus bridge was set up to accommodate the affected passengers.
