How do I move my blog to another provider?

The blog export will create a WordPress-friendly XML file that can be uploaded to WordPress, Squarespace, Typepad, Movable Type, Drupal, and other weblog-hosting sites.

To sumbit a request:

  1. Log in to My Opera.
  2. Navigate to your account settings.
    1. Hover your mouse over the wrench icon in the top right.
    2. Click on 'Account'.
  3. Click the 'Blog settings' link.
  4. Click the 'export your blog' button at the top of the page.

My Opera will send you an email when your blog has been successfully exported. The email will contain a link to where you can download the file.

Notes:

  • All blog posts will be exported, inlcuding posts set to "Private", "Friends Only" or "Members only" for group blogs. When imported into another blog platform these will be public.
  • My Opera will be unable to export the embedded images in your blog posts. Please export your files to save images you have uploaded to My Opera. The <img> tags in your blog posts will persist but the image URLs will need to be recreated after hosting your images at a new location.
  • You may only make one request in a 24-hour period. If you change or update your blog after using this export tool, you will have to wait a day before submitting another archive request.

Here's a list of resources to help you migrate your .xml file:

How do I download all the files I've uploaded to My Opera?

The files export will create a .zip archive of any files listed in your account's 'Files overview', as well as images in your albums. Your images can then be uploaded to Flickr, Google+, Photobucket, Fotki, or other photo sharing sites.

The finished .zip archive(s) will be in one or several directories where the name begins with "ARCHIVE", while the .zip file(s) will be named "main.zip".

You can export the files you've uploaded to .zip archive by submitting a zip request.

To submit a zip request:

  1. Log in to My Opera.
  2. Navigate to your files:
    1. Hover over the wrench icon in the top right.
    2. Click on 'Files'.
  3. Under 'Zip your files', click the 'Start' button.

My Opera will send you an email when your files have been successfully archived. The email will contain a link to where you can download the archive(s).

Where to find more help

If none of the help sections help you to solve your problem, or you are receiving error messages you do not understand, you can ask in the forums, IRC, or contact us, but before you do we have some general guidelines which may help you to find an answer or to post your question in the correct section.

Make sure that you are using the latest version of Opera.

Do a search before posting. Your question may have been asked before, and an answer may already be available. Give a brief summary of the problem in the subject header of your post, to make it easier for others to find your thread and contribute.

Be specific and to the point. smilie

Remember to include all relevant information. Describe the problem briefly, but completely. Include the full error message (if any). If you are having problem with a Web page, include the exact URL and explain what the problem is and how to reproduce it. List your operating system, system specs (CPU, RAM, etc.), and so on.

Report back to us if your problem has been solved. If the problem is solved, no matter who solved it, report the solution back to the same thread you posted the problem in! Other people will most likely benefit from this information.

Remember that there are real people behind the usernames in the forum. Treat them with respect, and you will be treated with respect.
