If you've made it this far, you've no doubt begun to understand why many have called Doctor Sleep a book in the "classic King" tradition. The novel, at its halfway point, is almost over-the-top terrifying, with a sense of dread permeating the pages as the plot chugs along onto its seemingly inevitable destination.

King's use of repetition is a huge part of what makes the book so frightening: the repeat performance of the top hat, the baby boy in the too-big t-shirt and the dirty diaper, the Teenytown train, all of it reminds me of what is, to me, the most horrific of all of King's work, It.
