Video: Apple's WWDC keynote

Apple yesterday used the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to announce a new Macbook Pro with a Retina display, iOS6 and other products including a MacBook Air. Here's our video of the WWDC keynote.

Apple’s showmanship was on display on Monday in San Francisco, where it took over the Mascone West Conference Building to host its worldwide developer conference.

Inside, attendees heard an opening speech from CEO Tim Cook, where he announced the next generation MacBook Pro, which features a Retina display—the same kind of high-density display Apple previously featured on its phones and tablets. It’s said to be nearly as light as Apple’s MacBook Air. See also: Apple MacBook Pro UK price and specifications round-up and Apple MacBook Pro Retina UK price and specifications round-up.

It also announced a ship date for its Mountain Lion operating system, and gave the world its first glimpse of  iOS 6. And, Apple is dropping Google maps and has built its own mapping software. See also: Apple iOS 6 previewed before autumn launch.

Developers seemed excited by the changes.

Possibly the most excited developer- -now 16-year old George Woodlif Stanley—is a full-on attendee this year after being at last year’s show on a student scholarship. Apple changed its rules for this year,  allowing developers as young as 13.

“I don’t know for sure that it’s because of me but it probably helped…”

From either all over the world—or just sporting Philadelphia pride—these developers seemed to be the right audience for Apple to announce it’s latest changes too.
