Alice in the Country of Clover: Cheshire Cat Waltz GN 1
The first volume of Cheshire Cat Waltz is a promising one, looking to be one of better developed stories in the English translated version of QuinRose's franchise so far. While it is more forceful than sweet, the romance is slightly less disturbing than that of its predecessor in the Country of Clover series.

Claymore GN 20
At this point the series is succeeding because of the absence of the lead character and main villain rather than despite it. A cliffhanger ending sends the story in a promising direction.

Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time GN 17
Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time has never been an A-list series. It has consistently suffered from a lack of good explanations and choppy pacing, and while this final volume is an improvement, it is still not enough to truly salvage the other sixteen. It is, however, sufficiently interesting and romantic to merit finishing.

Vampire Knight GN 14
Vampire Knight still suffers from an excess of vaguely similar looking characters, but it manages to blend Gothic and humor together and still be darkly compelling. It isn't entirely clear where Hino is going with the story, but it certainly promises to be interesting.

Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan GN 10
As long as the flavor of Japanese folklore is still there, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan has what it takes to stand out from all the other battle manga.

Ai Ore! GN 5 & 6
Ai Ore is not the best shoujo romance out there, but with these volumes it reclaims its place as a fun one.

Numerous bishonen get deep into matters involving artificially-created soldiers in this original Sunrise creation from 2005. While calling this an awful series would be a stretch, so would calling it a good one.

Hakuoki DVD
The Shinsengumi get a supernatural, semi-reverse harem treatment in this good-looking game adaptation. It has enough historical allusions and bloody action to appeal even to those who are not fans of hordes of dashing bishonen.

Tokyo Jungle
Tokyo Jungle's world has a Milo and Otis kind of wonder to it, where everything feels very large and very far away. Where the in-game challenge system issues edicts of "consume 2000 calories" or "change generations 2 times" these are to be completed only when convenient, as the internal goal of the player is always "go as far as I can, eat as much as I can, live as long as I can."
