Alex Preston’s Kickstarter for Hyper Light Drifter has been a runaway success. Having asked for only $27,000, he has –at the time of this writing– matriculated past the $500k mark. He is now working towards closing $600k to secure a well-earned masters degree in Kickstarter. Having backed 7 other Kickstarters himself, he is no stranger to the indie scene.

In case you haven't heard, Valve Corporation has released nearly everything about the Steam Box but the box itself. Big focus on player created content such as characters, items, weapons, monsters, NPCs, quests, etc. I spoke to the developer on twitter just to check up on the game and the developer kindly replied to confirm a Linux version will come, so that is great news!
Red Eclipse is a free, open-source shooter based on the Cube 2 engine, the engine on which two other popular games, AssaultCube and Sauerbraten, are based. The game was initially launched on March 15, 2011, and the latest release, Red Eclipse 1.4, was put out on March 22, 2013.
Alien Arena is a free, open-source first-person shooter built around the CRX engine, an open-source, Quake-based engine. It features a fast-paced gameplay taking place in a Sci Fi universe over dozens of maps. Alien Arena provides both single-player and multi-player modes.

While Steam's store doesn't actually list a Linux icon for it, Valve announced on the official community hub for Half-Life: Source that it's now available for Linux.
One year after introducing of the Big Picture Mode and a half year after releasing of Steam for Linux, Valve is now going to announce the "expansion of the Steam universe" in 3 steps.
Valve announced that in 2014 multiple vendors will offer a variety of Steam Machines — living room devices that will play Valve’s Steam game library, and also stream multimedia content, on its newly announced open source Linux SteamOS gaming distribution. Meanwhile, developers can apply for a chance to receive one of 300 Steam Machines prototypes to be sent out later this year.
