The Society produces archival pigment print reproductions and digital files made from high resolution scans of original source material from the Visual Materials Collections. All sale proceeds directly benefit the acquisition, preservation and maintenance of the Society's physical and online collections.

The Society's Archives document virtually all aspects of the rich social, economic, and political history of Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. In addition to strong holdings in regional history, our collections have a national focus in the areas of nineteenth-century exploration, Native Americans, mass communications, and social action movements.

Each month we mount a new image gallery that highlights a selection of images from our online collections and provides an introduction to research at the Society. From the Wright Brothers to Howard Hughes, these galleries highlight the variety of subjects, photographers, and collections in the Visual Materials Archive.

The Wisconsin Historical Society Images Update is an email newsletter produced by the Society. Each monthly update features gallery exhibits drawn from the visual materials collections, new additions to our online image database, news updates from the digital lab and special "subscribers only" print promotions.
