Samsung TV Plex app problems? Round 2
After the latest (involuntary I might add, seriously, I wish it were possible to disable these updates) update of the Samsung Plex app I was once again greeted with horrible lag, crashes and all things fun. Setting the buffers to auto improved it slightly, but it was still pretty bad. This time the magic fix turned out to be updating the Plex Server app on my computer, which for some reason made everything better even though it was only a minor release. So if you run into the same problem…
Sony vs. Microsoft
How to do it.
How not to do it.
Round 1: Sony.
Maybe more execs will learn that having fun and believing in what you do makes you more believable (and thus gets you more results) than drowning in marketing research reports and demographic nonsense.

WordPress Security: Limit Login Attempts
The picture says it all really. There are bots active trying to hack WordPress sites all over the web by trying to log in to your account using any and all possible password combinations.
This plugin allows you to lock it down by setting the amount of retries you allow before the ip address of the person trying to get in gets blocked. It’s effective, and necessary.
Also make sure you rename the default admin account as this is the username the bots use for their login attempts.
Yellow shrimp
Sneaky little buggers, sometimes I don’t see any for weeks and I’m convinced they’ve all been eaten and then all of a sudden; there they are. Kinda like my posting intervals.
Mountain Lion on an older Mac
If you’re still stuck on Lion because your Mac isn’t compatible with Mountain Lion you might want to take a look at this project where people have created an app called MLPostFactor. It allows you to install Mountain Lion on pretty much any Mac that can run Lion. It’s still beta software and you have to know what you’re doing (which goes for most things in life) but it looks good, might have to give it a try on our old white iMac.
