Sony Gamer's Day: David Jaffe's 'Criminal Crackdown'

60FPS, 1080p and "looks a bit like RC Pro-AM."

God of War director David Jaffe teased we'd be hearing about his PlayStation 3 project soon, and Sony's Gamer's Day proved to be the proper venue. Criminal Crackdown was shown at the event, which Luke says "looks a bit like RC Pro-AM, and that's not a bad thing." Jaffe's latest focuses on quickly tracking down criminals and returning them to a jail cell for points.

In addition to running at 60 frames-per-second at 1080p, Criminal Crackdown also features four-player multiplayer split-screen -- and we're assuming online, too. Developed hand-in-hand with Warhawk developer Incognito, Jaffe's focusing on creating original content: "New games of today, to be the classics of tomorrow."

Jaffe says Criminal Crackdown will show its face in February or March. Check out the first screens and videos.

Oldies station

Well it seems that Professor Jaffe is forgeting the fact that The Beetles are a classic oldies band...and that Ashlee Simpson has released nothing classic, although XBox Live this first year has been attempting to release "classics". More than anything he probably realizes now what a horrible job his new attempt at creating a game is. I would say that Jaffe smoked up a little bit too much before his interview.

it's funny that David was so avid about making a game that can make someone cry. However, now he's kinda changed his viewpoint. I'm sure the game will be fun, but I can't help but find David's behavior to be strange. My suggestion, stop talking so much, and keep making great games.

Alot of people were saying similar things about Geometry Wars when they first saw it, but thaen they played it and realized how much fun it was. So don't complain about a game you haven't played yet.

This is what we get from the creator of God of War? His first PS3 game, and it looks like it was made for the PSP? The premise sounds completely bland and stupid. I don't know what was going in Jaffe's head when he thought up this cartoonish piece of crap...

After seeing the video of the game I retract what I said before. PS3 can't sell this for $50 - $60. It better be a game for their online service. It looks fun, but definetly a $5 or $10 game. I will LMAO if it comes out at over $15.

This has got to be an April fools joke in October. Unless those are load screens while you wait for the actually game to start that's a freaking Xbox live arcade game. Maybe PS3 can sell it for $50 - $60 and 360 can put it on arcade for $5 - $10. I still don't believe it.

People really need to grow up and stop talking crap about games before they have ever actually played them. Knowing who it's coming from, I know it'll be fun. Incognito is synonimous with great car combat. I find it really ironic that most of you crap talkers are probably buying a ps3 day one, without having much in the way of interesting software...shows where your priorities are. Graphics over gameplay, system power over actual games.

Should be ashamed of himself for a couple of reasons. 1 - For being excited about this game, this game is looks so sorry, that I've happily play the Burger King games before this! ? 2 - This game looks like it belongs on my motorola razor instead of my PS3. What happened to him while he was making God of War, that he now thinks that this is what people want? I know that the high stress of making God of War got to him, but if he continues to make sh!tty games like this. The next issue that's going to stress him out is why he's living in a cardboard box!

for titles that arent overly system taxing. gran turismo, some of the ps3's arcade titles, and so forth. but if u have a 1080p capable tv then god has blessed u at some point. those things are so expensive currently.

This game does not deserve it's own article from the annoying music from a bad 16bit Simpson's game to the lame game play looks overall awful. Still I don't know how they pulled off 60fps in 1080p with four screens!?! (sarcasim)
