The Online Universe called Xbox LIVE

Posted: 2008-01-21 22:45:13.78
Over the weekend, I had my first experience with this beautiful thing call online gaming over Xbox LIVE. I've had a Xbox LIVE Account for some time, but this weekend was the first time I actually got to challenge people online. It was amazing and I hope to do it again. Anywho, time for general updates.

 • My truck's rear-view mirror came off. I have to put it back on tomorrow. Fortunately for me, I rarely use it due to the fact that I have near-illegal after-market tint that makes it almost impossible to use.
 • My essay is finished and ready to be turned in. I'm aiming for a 100, but I'll probably get a 95 or something. I always do.
 • I'm really ticked off that Uno and Assault Heroes won't work unless I'm on Xbox LIVE. Then again, those are really multiplayer games anyway. I can just redownload them and play them when I get a chance to get on Xbox LIVE.
 • Love issues. It's weird when you love one girl, yet another one is the one that loves you. It's really confusing lol.

Now for gaming updates.

 • Halo 3: Played it online over the weekend. I managed to get a decent rank with what time I had. I am a Sergeant Grade 1 with a skill level of 8. That's not bad with only two and a half days of playtime. I also found the last skull I needed, the one on "The Covenant." Turns out I was looking in the wrong tower lol. It's on tower 2, which is on the way to tower 3. I spent most of my time on ranked matches, but I also played some "Big Team Battles" on social matchmaking as well.
 • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: Yeah, I downloaded it. It's amazing. I feel so stupid that I didn't buy it when it came out for Playstation all those years ago. It's really annoying though. The 360's controller simply isn't meant for 2-D sidescrollers. It does the job in a pinch, but honestly I wish I had a controller designed for 2-D games. Heck, even a fighting game joystick would do better than the abysmal d-pad on the 360 controller.

That's about it really. Not much else to report. See you next mission! ;)

By the way, happy Robert E. Lee day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Yeah, I celebrate both. Both men were great for their respective times. Robert E. Lee was a military genius and a truly good man, while Martin was a Civil Rights Hero. Good day, sirs.

Back in Black

Posted: 2008-01-15 21:35:23.597
Well, I've done some shopping. Didn't carry out my original plans, but I did fix some things and got some shit sorted out.

 • A new 360. I bought a 360 Elite for Christmas. I have the old Pro unit sitting in it's box. I'm a tad unsure what to do with it at this point.
 • I sent in my computer monitor and got a new one. It works like a charm so far.
 • Computer desk. My grandfather made me this kick-ass computer desk.

In games, I've bought some new ones, did some things...

 • Bioshock: I just finished the game. It was amazing. I might go through it again, just to get more achievements (I missed out on some of the harder ones) for my gamerscore. The game is a tad on the short side, but it's definitely fun.
 • Halo 3: I've beaten the game on every setting, and I have all of the Gold skulls with the exception of two. One on the mission "The Covenant" and the other on "Cortana." Halo 3 was definitely a blast and worth every penny I threw down for the Limited Edition.
 • Forza Motorsport 2: It came with my new Elite, and it's a great game. Definitely underrated. I'm a huge car fan, especially classic American muscle cars, and there are plenty on the game. I currently use a HEAVILY modified Shelby GT500KR 1968 as my primary car. I've upgraded it to S class; Supercharger, top of the line intake and exhaust systems and top-of-the line everything else. It's a beast, and it's fast. Stock, it's slow as molasses, but it doesn't take all that much cash (credits) in the game to turn a D class Shelby into an S class that can outrun Ferraris.
 • Marvel Ultimate Alliance: Came with my Elite. It's an ok game, just really repetitive. Still, it's addictive. I imagine it'd be more fun with 4 people playing, because the AI (or lack there-of) sucks balls.

That's really about it. Since I've beaten Bioshock, I plan to go back to Forza for awhile. I really need to complete it. Cars are cars.

Oh, and some general life musings. I have a date to prom. We're just going as best friends, but I do love her... Maybe one day it'll happen and we'll be together, but this is a close second lol. Wish me luck. Also, I'm taking web page design, which is kinda easy considering I know most of the stuff already.

See ya next mission. ;)

Future

Posted: 2007-05-29 19:50:38.437
Well, I've had enough. My 360 is starting to mess up, as is my computer monitor, which is a 450 dollar 24" widescreen. I'm planning on selling my 360, my monitor, and my computer. That, along with money I earn from my job (I'm going to apply at a different place this time, lol) I'm going to buy some monstrocity of a notebook, like the Aurora m7700 or the Dell XPS 1710. I'm going to wait until the GeForce Go 8800's become the stock graphics cards of course, because I want to take full advantage of Crysis.
