16 Manga in September's Top 20 U.S. Graphic Novels

Watchmen, Naruto back on top of the charts, followed by Vampire Knight

The ICv2 retail news source reports that Alan Moore's Watchmen classic graphic novel (DC Comics) and Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto (Viz Media) manga are back on top of the BookScan Top 20 Graphic Novels in the American retail market for September, followed by 15 more manga volumes. Watchmen is again #1, while Naruto volume 31 rises to #2 and Naruto volume 30 drops to #11. Matsuri Hino's Vampire Knight volume 5 (Viz) is the top shōjo work at #3 with another VIz title, Tite Kubo's Bleach volume 24, at #4.

Ken Akamatsu's Negima volume 19 is Del Rey's only title on the chart at #5, one slot ahead of Tokyopop's top title of Yun Kouga's Loveless volume 8. Two Shojo Beat titles from Viz, Arina Tanemura's The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross and Hino's Wanted, come in at #8 and #10.

The remaining manga titles are Yuna Kagesaki and Tokyopop's Chibi Vampire volume 10, Kentaro Yabuki's Black Cat volume 16, Kiyo Fujiwara's Wild Ones volume 4, Akihisa Ikeda's Rosario + Vampire volume 2, Yoshiki Nakamura's Skip Beat! volume 14, Natsuki Takaya and Tokyopop's Fruits Basket volume 20, Hiroyuki Takei's Shaman King volume 18, and Tsugumi Ohba's Death Note volume 1; Viz published all but two of these books. In all, Viz published 13 of the top 20 books.
