Danny shoots cops and steals cars in this random encounter with 2001's classic 3D sandbox, Grand Theft Auto III.
I had more fun with this game than I did with San Andrea's. Mainly because it was the first of its kind at that time.
It's really fun if you put the flying vehicles cheat on, then get the tank and fire backwards constantly, tank will just fly away.
Again, Gamespot's videos that devolve into juvenile swearing and unfunny "jokes" about nuts, etc. are tired and embarrassing. Not all of us are 12. It's not edgy or compelling in any way and just alienates mature players. You'd think a mainstream site like this would recognize that it's possible to be funny without pandering to low IQ mouth breathers in the process. Yes, I play games that include swearing and watch movies that have swearing. But Roger Ebert never needed to swear to review them. It's not needed in a let's play either.
Still the best in the series. Loved the soundtrack, too. Used to drive around in the rain blaring 80s, once you get up to speed all the colors start to blur. Blew me away at the time with its style and open-world gameplay. Great video!
Memories...... It has aged of course but i'm not sure any action adventure open world game since has made me feel quite the same as the first time i played GTA III. It was what i'd wanted in a game for over a decade. And finally it could be realised. GTA III is to 00's games what Doom was in the 90's. A game changer (pun intended).
i think you could fly with it if you put in the low gravity code and shoot backwards with the tank and go off a ramp.
Hah! I knew that the chase-crash madness will end up as an opener! It was just that ridiculous :D
Good show though, as usual. A proper ode to a legend. And damn these confusing automatics. Who would've thought that "R" actually meant reverse ;)
Probably the funniest RE in a long while. Even funnier than Hatoful Boyfriend. You are hilarious Danny!
This is easily the most entertaining regular segment on Gamespot. But then Danny's easily the most entertaining staffer. Way funner.
I love this Random Encounter show. All episodes were truly fantastic. Great host.
erbody add me on steam yo!!! i got what you need. Holy muff diver. get at me hoes.
@ghostedit don't watch them then ? another idiot that doesn't know that different people like different things and don't all have a stick up our arses.
I'm in my thirties and I thought it was the funniest thing I've seen on GS in a long time. Lighten up, bellend.
@ghostedit Actually, I prefer it like this. Everything doesn't need a layer of sophistication to entertain mature players, or people in general. It's supposed to make you laugh and at the end of the day it achieves its objective. Several times, I've come back home after a long day and watching a Random Encounter or Feedbackula has cheered me up.
As someone has already stated, It's a video dude.
@ghostedit Demanding that the hosts of an online show about videogames to be sophisticated is the same as demanding a Neil DeGrasse Tyson hosted scientific documentary be with more fart jokes. There's plenty of 12 year olds that watch scientific documentaries and there's plenty of adults who play games.
Fact still stands that the majority of gamers are young people and the majority of scientific documentary viewers are more mature people, both know their audiences and they wont tailor themselves toward the needs of minorities, go find a separate site for that.
In other words, settle down and just enjoy life dude. It's just a video.
@sorintitus This, and the "D" for "Drive" and "R" for "Really Drive", i was on the floor laughing. :)
@megatron_6 @ghostedit I don't expect the videos to be "sophisticated" but do they have to be ridiculously stupid to be funny? Simply, I don't watch these videos. I have found very good youtube videos without stupidity. They are still funny without the swearing of a 12 year old on meth. I realize I am in the minority, as the market still thinks all gamers are 12 and that is what they shoot for. It would be different if these "jokes" were funny. But they aren't. I just don't watch these videos. I gave it a shot again and nothing has changed. It is hard to find "mature" gameplay but IMO worth it. So, Classic Game Room and TotalBiscuit and others for me.
