15 Batman domains registered

"Batman Arkham Arises" and "Arkham Universe" are among the domains registered.

A number of newly registered domain names related to the Batman franchise have raised speculation about Warner Bros.' plans in regard to the future of its Arkham video game franchise.

Originally spotted by Fusible, the domain names range from titles such as "Arkham Universe" to "Batman Arkham Arises" and "Batman Arkham Origins."

According to the report, there is no way to tell whether the domains pertain to films or video games, or even if Warner Bros. was the company that registered the titles, since the domain holder is protected by a privacy service.

However, Fusible reports that Warner Bros. is a client of Internet brand protection company MarkMonitor, which is behind the domain registrations.

The registered domains are:

arkhamuniverse.com (Arkham Universe)
batmanarkahmuniverse.com (Batman Arkham Universe)
batmanarkhamarises.com (Batman Arkham Arises)
batmanarkhambegins.com (Batman Arkham Begins)

In July last year, it was reported that the next game in Rocksteady Studios' Batman series will be a prequel detailing Batman's first encounter with the Joker and will be based on the Silver Age of DC comics from the 1950s. Reports stated that the game is not expected to arrive until 2014.

The last entry in Warner Bros.' Batman game franchise--Batman: Arkham City--was developed by Rocksteady Studios and shipped for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 18, with a PC version following on November 22. The game received a strong critical reception and shipped 6 million units.

I want the Arkham world teased at the VGA's that would be awesome going between multiple city environments using the batmobile batplane and other batman goodies.

How about "Arkham Forever" or "Batman and Arkham" :P

If Rocksteady is as smart as they look, they would surely make a new Batman game- considering that the last two were AMAZING.

How about "Call of Duty Batman Warfare"?

It's sad that they have to limit every game title to including "Arkham." They've made two games with the title and know they have to use it in order to maximize sales. If they don't use it, consumers might think its just another crappy Batman game.

I wonder the domain registrations are done to protect the Batman IP.

Arkham Knight is decent... Really think they should get out of the Arkham stage though, try something new.

A new Batman game would be pretty cool in my opinion.

Didn't the Joker already spoil this when he won Character of the Year at the VGAs?

A ninja-themed prequel incoming?

Hopefully it won't be Arkham anything. It needs to be Batman: Gotham City. Especially after all of that mysterious stranger stuff.

I don't know, There were lots of hidden messages in Arkham city indicating that there would be  a sequel (very exciting ones mind you). I don't know about anyone else but I want to see more additions to this franchise.

I'm not into it.

They make an amazing one-in-a-million game that is followed by a sequel which perfectly expands on the first. That game wins game of the year and nets a ton of money. I'm going to remain optimistic, but they should just make a different game entirely with the resources. Having them fade away under the weight of success in an industry that is famous for milking the crap out of ideas is a waste of an awesome development team.

Or it could be the greatest game ever.

I'm going to take a wild guess at a next gen console MMO.

im glad they are not milking this franchise with yearly releases, id rather have them take 2 or 3 years making a solid game like Asylum and City...keep it up

Batman Arkham anything is good news for me.

A prequel seems kind of weak considering Hamill said he was done voicing the Joker.  If this is a prequel then it looks like the series is going the Metal Gear Solid Route lol.

DC Arkham Universe? If that's going to be the title, then expect the likes of Supes and Wonder Woman to show up.

An Arkham Batman game would make a nice launch title for Xbox 720 and PS4.Batman  Arkham Origins.

Yey! Finally some news after AC.Well done Warner Bros. You guys rock! Please register one more domain " BATMAN GOTHAM CITY" :D Give me more Batman games!!! I loved both Arkham games and I'd love to see more.I can trust Rocksteady without any doubt as a developer for a new Batman game.

Warner Bros would do very well to get some other super talented developer to work on their other superhero stables, that way if the games are made well enough and link well enough they could do a whole justice league buildup (like marvel did with the avengers and the respective movies). Its a LOOONNG shot, but the pay off would be MONUMENTAL!!!

Ship another game in the vein of Asylum and City and I will buy it. City is exactly the sort of single player game I want to play.

I loved both Arkham games. The first one,to me,seemed more dark and dangerous though. Maybe the fact that it was an entirely new IP/experience had something to do with it. Arkham City was a great game but the secondary weapons/detective puzzles felt removed where in Arkham Asylum I felt a huge need right from the start to try and upgrade my skills/solve puzzles. Arkham City really played up the "human" aspect of Batman. Guns and knive attackers were to be feared but the repetitive gargoyle hopping sequences became more of a hassle then fun after a while.

If WB was going to do origins with expanded co-op play with multiple character options then I think Arkham Knights is a great play on words that fit with the current naming trends and don't sound like a cheesy fisher-priced version of a game/IP that should be considered a dark and moody game. Just my thoughts on a series that I LOVE. Just being objective.

Ah first news after Batman AC. I was really hoping for next game in the franchise in 2013 but seems like I'd get my hand on it in 2014.......too bad

Or if you really want to sell the game try something new and unique go out on a limb and create Batman Arkham Villain where you play as one of 3 characters with different stories unique to them. As Batman you start out as hero but end up changed into a villain trying to destroy Gotham. As Robin you take control of the batcave and try to save Bruce Wayne or Batman before he destroys Gotham. And finally as the Joker you scheme to turn Batman into a villain and destroy Gotham. It would be like 3 games in one and could have a unique ending in which Batman dies either as a hero or at the hands of Robin saving Gotham. I am sorry batman fanboys attack me now.

@Lotus-Edge nah, it'll be more "pow wham punch" theme prequel incoming. assuming it's gonna be based on the 50's

@Savior4Life I love Arkham City but it would be nice to see Rocksteady's take on something else than a Batman game...

yoda101280

@Timmy_Gwar I disagree, with series like CoD I'd say yes but with Batman they deliver a great and new story each time and everyone loves being Batman.  I had more fun in the second game than I did in the first and I really loved the first one.  As long as they can keep that type of progress with the game and story then I see no reason why they shouldn't do another.

If you have a series like black ops and CoD where they keep recycling the same thing then yes, I'd say let that series die already.

I will say I wish someone would make a Superman game that does Superman the same justice that they've done with Batman.  I can't think of a superman game that's been anything but utter garbage.  No one seems to be able to tackle that challenge.

...unless it's an MMO, of course.  Then, I'm out.

@asifah30 That might not be such a bad thing! that way it can be sort of a sleeper hit, even though it will have had 2 previous games, but the 3 year time gap will have pretty much taken it out of everyones mind and expectations and thus it will be even better :) (walthough I think i'm talking nonsense hahaha)

cdog21

@yoda101280 They don't know how, or don't want, to create a game that is basically stuck in God Mode.

SdiLoghnar

@weisguy119 "Arkham Universe" scared the hell out of me. No "Batman" prefix and the word "Universe" sounded really like an MMO..

The-Neon-Seal

@42316 @asifah30 I remember a time when a 3 year gap was normal for games and it didn't harm them then. I blame Call of Duty and caffine high diets.

asifah30
asifah30

@42316 @asifah30 Yup, you are right, the more time they'd take the better Batman experience we'd have. But being a big fan of series I can't wait though...:)
