Tags: bomb, blast, explosion, terrorist attack

In Russia, trinitrotoluene (TNT) is used for military purposes, usually as a filling for shells, missiles, mortar shells, aerial bombs, land mines and roadside bombs. The explosive is widely used to blow up metal, concrete, brick and other materials.

TNT has not been used for industrial purposes in the United States since the 1990s due to the toxic by- products of TNT explosions.

Interestingly, TNT was previously used in healthcare as an anti-fungal substance. However, due to its toxicity and the invention of other, more efficient medication, it gradually went out of use.
