(8 August 2013)
-- It's a wonderful week for indie
gaming at GOG.com! The DRM-free Digital Distributor has released
three brand new, exceptional titles: the highly-anticipated
genre-bender
Divinity: Dragon Commander
; the highly-addictive, hard as
nails 2D platformer
Spelunky
; and the peculiar dystopian
bureaucrat simulator
Papers,
Please
.
GOG.com always releases games that span a variety of genres on
any given week, but this week's releases represent a truly
incredible diversity.
Dragon Commander, already
making a name for itself as an " impressive, robust experience"
(Games Radar) that puts "big issues on the main stage" (IGN), is a
fresh mix of turn-based grand campaign, real-time strategy battles,
and dragon combat.
Spelunky, praised for its
blend of fun and challenge, is an award-winning, unforgiving
roguelike platformer. And this week's final indie release
Papers, Please is a
narrative-driven procedural simulator, in which you peek into
people's lives and uncover terrorist plots as an immigration
inspector creating an "experience unlike any other" (Digital
Spy).
To ensure an increasing influx of diverse indie titles to
GOG.com's DRM-free catalog the Digital Distributor is launching its
first integrated indie program at the upcoming GDC Europe at
Cologne between 19-21 August. For more information the press is
welcome to contact GOG.com's PR department, schedule a meeting with
GOG.com's representatives at GDC Europe by emailing
welovedevs[at]gog.com, or just casually drop by the GOG.com's GDC
booth
located at table 147.
