Metascore: 63/100 (8 reviews)
Set in the year 2154, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

The Buzz: With its A-list cast, alien-planet setting, and layers of pre-release secrecy, Neill Blomkamp's follow-up to District 9 is this year's Prometheus. Without the post-release backlash? Or planned sequel.

Certificate PG   -   Adventure | Family | Fantasy

In order to restore their dying safe haven, the son of Poseidon and his friends embark on a quest to the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece while trying to stop an ancient evil from rising.

The Buzz: Part two of this trilogy based on the novels by Rick Riordan finds director Thor Freudenthal, who got Fox's other kid-franchise, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, off the ground, subbing in for Chris Columbus. All of the main young demigods are back, with a scaled-back (and therefore less expensive) adult supporting cast featuring Anthony Head as Chrion, replacing Pierce Brosnan.

Certificate R   -   Comedy | Crime

A veteran pot dealer creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico.

The Buzz: Remember Rawson Marshall Thurber - the guy who made a blockbuster out of a comedy about dodgeball? Well, he's finally back in the major-movie spotlight with a long-gestating pot-themed comedy that has seen directors and stars come and go like it was TV pilot season. Exactly what kind of shape the script is in at this point is unknown - many hands have touched it -- but I'm hoping the cast, which includes SNL's Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, Ed Helms, and Nick Offerman, was encouraged to improvise. And, hey, if this movie manages to underwhelm, couldn't you get pretty much all of these people to star in the same TV show?

Certificate PG   -   Animation | Adventure | Comedy | Family

Dusty is a cropdusting plane who dreams of competing in a famous aerial race. The problem? He is hopelessly afraid of heights. With the support of his mentor Skipper and a host of new friends, Dusty sets off to make his dreams come true.

The Buzz: This expansion of the Cars universe serves as a reminder to adults that Disney owns Pixar -- and let's be clear that Pixar wasn't really involved with the animation here. Like Puss in Boots, the project was first set for a straight-to-DVD release; unlike Puss in Boots, we don't think this one will soar at home or abroad. Though we hear that Dusty Crophopper and friends will be back for a sequel.

Two highway road workers spend the summer of 1988 away from their city lives. The isolated landscape becomes a place of misadventure as the men find themselves at odds with each other and the women they left behind.

The Buzz: As David Gordon Green's longtime fans have aged, and the director began to specialize in a curious strain of Hollywood comedy, some of us began to wonder if he'd ever find a project that merged the narrative prowess that made George Washington such a wonder and the dark fantasy showcased in Pineapple Express. Turns out Prince Avalanche and its improvising, Mario Bros. overalls-wearing co-leading men is the project for which we have been pining. But the thing is: We are a rather small, if loyal, audience.

En route, he meets a woman hailing from a unique family down South. As they find love through this journey in the exuberant lands of South India, an unanticipated drive awaits them.

The Buzz: With superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone sharing the screen, this could be one of the best performing Indian films in the US this year. The thoroughly able Rohit Shetty (Bol Bachchan, the Golmaal series) directs.

Certificate R   -   Biography | Drama

Metascore: 42/100 (6 reviews)
The story of Linda Lovelace, who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her coercive husband, before taking control of her life.
Watch Trailer

The Buzz: If you're expecting Boogie Nights or Star 80, you might need to adjust your expectations -- aside from the Eric Roberts cameo. Director duo Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman bring it when they're in documentary mode (The Celluloid Closet and, hello, The Times of Harvey Milk), but they are less assured narrative filmmakers (see: Howl). A weak script and period-setting trappings undermine the top-notch cast.

An underachieving vocal coach is motivated by her father, the king of movie-trailer voice-overs, to pursue her aspirations of becoming a voiceover star. Amidst pride, sexism and family dysfunction, she sets out to change the voice of a generation.

The Buzz: We're so totally into Lake Bell, her association with fellow actress/filmmaker Katie Aselton, and we hope the continue to make projects that in no way can be compared to Bridesmaids.

Certificate R   -   Comedy | Romance

Metascore: 55/100 (10 reviews)
Newlywed couple Nat and Josh are deliriously happy despite their differences, though friends and family aren't convinced that they can last. With their first anniversary approaching and attractive alternatives in the mix, can they last?
Director:

The Buzz: The meet-cute romance gets an unorthodox (and, according to many, irritating) spin from Sacha Baron Cohen shaper Dan Mazer. The trailer made us laugh, but we imagine 90 minutes of discomforting comedy is the kind of movie you might want to watch on demand.

A road trip through medicalized America, examining the pervasiveness of pharmaceutical drugs through the lives of eight very unique characters.

The Buzz: Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher made the heralded documentary October Country and now they bring their intimate style to a widely debated national issue. We're most curious to see if a TV/cable channel goes after broadcast rights, and we imagine its biggest audience will come through streaming channels.
