Two star sons — Smita Patil-Raj Babbar's son Prateik and Rati Agnihotri's son Tanuj — attempted to stake their claim at the box office this week. Both came a cropper. Prateik's 'Issaq' managed a 850-print release, but the content was very poor. Tanuj's 'Luv U Soniyo' was a victim of multiple film releases and could barely manage to get 150 screens.

In all fairness, on day one, Luv U Soniyo collected around `38 lakh from 150 screens, while Issaq collected `80 lakh from 850 screens. So, Tanuj was on a better wicket. Thereafter, LUS could manage just around `1 crore in the opening weekend. Ramaiya Vastavaiya and D-Day maintained a fair amount of shows despite the fact that there were seven new releases. However, none of them could match the show put up by Milkha, who is still running too fast for others to catch up with him.
Bajatey Raho got a decent start. As expected, the Tusshar-Dolly Ahluwalia revenge-comedy got a better patronage up North than the rest of India.

Poonam Pandey's Nasha may actually recover costs because it is a low-priced film and though it will not get much from the satellite, this half-way titillating film did find takers.

However, it was The Wolverine that proved to be the baap of all releases this weekend. The film has collected `10 crore across the various languages and formats it was released in. The producers have sent out an official figure of `10.5 crore.
