Sunshine has long bid us goodbye and the dampening monsoon is on, enclosing everything in its dull and dreary look. By following some of the latest trends in interior decoration and designing, we can give our homes a bright look this season. So, go on make your home look chic...

Not just one wall
The days of doing up one single wall as an accent wall is passe. Interior and furniture stylist Hazel Choksi says, "Instead of keeping one wall as the focal point, the trend is to use the same colour on all the walls." And for accent pieces one can use bright cushion covers she adds.

Go green
Interior and product designer Krsna Mehta says, "The colour for walls this season is either mint or avocado." It not only looks striking but gives a soothing and fresh feel to the room. And, this colour has a Feng Shui effect too. Crescentia Wilsson Feng Shui expert says, "Green is good if you have a newborn or small kids at home. Having some greens at home make them healthier."

Muted effect
Beige, gray, mushroom and dull metallic colours are very hot these days. Fabrics for wall treatments and muted natural colours for curtains also works.

Let's do Glass
With the constantly escalating price of real estate, average homes are getting smaller, but people are no longer just resorting to white to make their homes look larger. Glass, mirror and reflective metallic colours are in, and have taken up the important role to give your home a larger-than-it-is look say interior experts.

Shutter talk
Wardrobe shutters or doors are being made partially reflective to make rooms look spacious. Hazel says, "Back-painted, toughened glass, is very popular these days as wardrobe shutters. They give your room a very sleek look."

White is out
White is boring. Various shades of white look great only on the ceiling these days.
