Around 15,000 students of 65 government, private and minority schools of the city will be planting a sapling each on August 23 and 24 to make the city green.The programme is being organized with district education office in collaboration with forest department and Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board. The plantation will be done at Tupudana where an area of around 17 acres will be identified for the purpose by forest department.

Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) was pulled up by Bhopal bench of National Green Tribunal on Wednesday for not having any action plan for one of the polluted city in the country like Indore. Tribunal expressed anguish over absence of initiative of MPPCB to check pollution in commercial capital of state.

Mayor Saidai Duraisamy inaugurated a green channel procedure through which planning permission for one and two storey buildings will be granted within seven days. It used to take one month under the earlier procedure. People can also track the status of their application during the seven days.

Shimla Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar during the visit of union minister to Shimla submitted a memorandum requesting him to grant permission for the barriers. In his letter, Panwar informed Fernandes that union ministry of surface transport has already agreed in principle to set up green fee collection barriers along NH-22 and NH-88 but the state national highways authority have not agreed to this permission.
